Vanjie and that sponge have already gotten more quality screen time than anyone else.

Anyway, at this point, I'd say that yeah, Cracker and Monet seem the least likely to make the final four.

nourish nourish your turtleheart (Eric H.), Monday, 14 May 2018 14:03 (five years ago) link

idk cracker hasn't even lip synced yet, and comedy queens to me always have a leg up when it comes to making the final 4 even tho they can be passed up to win

J0rdan S., Monday, 14 May 2018 15:38 (five years ago) link

Okay I sensed that coming. But it WAS a good lip sync.

Ned Raggett, Friday, 18 May 2018 04:32 (five years ago) link

I mean, it was very good, but so was the previous week's. The only difference last week was that there was a "villain" to dispatch.

nourish nourish your turtleheart (Eric H.), Friday, 18 May 2018 12:38 (five years ago) link

Agreed. Also I do wonder what it would have been like if someone had been sent home this week -- is one of next week's makeover guests on standby?

Ned Raggett, Friday, 18 May 2018 12:55 (five years ago) link

God, I found that challenge painful, though. Unfunny, overlong, POOR.

trishyb, Friday, 18 May 2018 22:47 (five years ago) link

Next week's is MUCH more interesting already.

Ned Raggett, Friday, 18 May 2018 22:56 (five years ago) link

It's a fine line between camp and crap, but this season's written challenges seem far more on the latter side than usual.

nourish nourish your turtleheart (Eric H.), Saturday, 19 May 2018 02:04 (five years ago) link

Agreed. Bearing in mind the calibre of the queens this season, I haven’t found it as entertaining as previous ones.

Madchen, Saturday, 19 May 2018 06:19 (five years ago) link

I'm guessing that Cracker approaches her comedy analytically, so when she didn't win any of the comedy challenges, she started getting in her head and is kind of in a vicious cycle of self-doubt. And that's kind of emblematic of this bizarro season, where the look queens are outperforming the comedy queens in the comedy challenges. (Acquarium can be intentionally funny, who'da thunk?)

Loving Asia, though, a den mother who can also turn it out!

Twyla Thwoorp (Leee), Saturday, 19 May 2018 20:50 (five years ago) link

Asia was awesome this week. I loved her old age look so much 😂

Squeaky Fromage (VegemiteGrrl), Saturday, 19 May 2018 23:17 (five years ago) link

Some great official postings from DragCon going up. Season 3 reunion's a treat.

Ned Raggett, Sunday, 20 May 2018 03:13 (five years ago) link

realized i should stop watching raja and raven's photo fashion ruview when watching it became like the two-minutes hate from 1984.

clouds, Sunday, 20 May 2018 14:01 (five years ago) link

the fact that raven wants to read someone else's looks while looking like victoria beckham crossed with lady elaine from mister roger's neighborhood is just... i can't

clouds, Sunday, 20 May 2018 14:03 (five years ago) link

yeah I have been wrestling with that too

Squeaky Fromage (VegemiteGrrl), Sunday, 20 May 2018 15:14 (five years ago) link

Aja and Manila are both great standins -- the DragCon live RuView this year was Raja and Aja and it was funny as hell.

Ned Raggett, Sunday, 20 May 2018 15:37 (five years ago) link

agreed with that. would actually love just an aja fashion review.

clouds, Sunday, 20 May 2018 16:58 (five years ago) link

Raja, even when she’s dismissive, still has an energy that I dig.

nourish nourish your turtleheart (Eric H.), Sunday, 20 May 2018 17:34 (five years ago) link

Raven is very rigid & set in her ways

Squeaky Fromage (VegemiteGrrl), Sunday, 20 May 2018 19:46 (five years ago) link

Yeah. You don't like shoes with a strap, Raven. We get it!

nourish nourish your turtleheart (Eric H.), Sunday, 20 May 2018 20:55 (five years ago) link

Would Raven be the Clarence Thomas of Photo Fashion Ruview?

Regreta Garbo (Leee), Monday, 21 May 2018 00:47 (five years ago) link

O_o

Squeaky Fromage (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 21 May 2018 01:25 (five years ago) link

Kameron's lipsynch was incredible! I didn't know she had it in her. She told Ru the stage is where she lets go and I'm glad we got to see it.

LeRooLeRoo, Monday, 21 May 2018 15:31 (five years ago) link

i think kameron got lucky that she lip synced with a prosthetic face. it brought a comedy to the lip sync that i don't think she would have been able to summon otherwise

J0rdan S., Monday, 21 May 2018 16:11 (five years ago) link

I agree it helped her facial expressions but I'm still giving her credit for her dance moves and head shakes!

LeRooLeRoo, Tuesday, 22 May 2018 22:17 (five years ago) link

it was v good makeup. this series is such a drag.

Heavy Messages (jed_), Tuesday, 22 May 2018 22:44 (five years ago) link

I feel like as a series, it needs to try harder, because a lot of these queens seem much more talented than what they're getting to work with. Chatting with a friend the other day who pointed out that a lot of the series tropes end up feeling like chores, for example everybody gets excited for Snatch Game but the actuality of it is that it's always disappointing now.

boxedjoy, Wednesday, 23 May 2018 16:28 (five years ago) link

otm

sean gramophone, Wednesday, 23 May 2018 16:53 (five years ago) link

Basically agree that the best episodes are almost always the ones where the queens get to write their own material or create their own fashions (or someone else's). Snatch Game gets a pass because they're still in charge of their own ad libbing.

But, man, the acting challenges with pre-existing scripts are just getting worse and worse.

nourish nourish your turtleheart (Eric H.), Wednesday, 23 May 2018 17:35 (five years ago) link

By contrast, I thought this week was a superb episode. Loads of fun workroom stuff, and loads of RuPaul gems. Good times.

trishyb, Friday, 25 May 2018 11:35 (five years ago) link

Yeah, a truly fun episode and, at least by my estimation, an even better LSFYL match-up (tho maybe that was just editing).

That said, and as much as I actually admire Kam for being able to keep her shit on lockdown in this environment, that was the wrong call overall.

nourish nourish your turtleheart (Eric H.), Friday, 25 May 2018 12:36 (five years ago) link

Also, S10 without Monet and Monique is just a whole hell of a lot less fun.

Sidebar: Frankie Grande’s eyes are terrifying.

Squeaky Fromage (VegemiteGrrl), Friday, 25 May 2018 15:13 (five years ago) link

Eureka’s macho look made me laugh til I cried

Squeaky Fromage (VegemiteGrrl), Friday, 25 May 2018 15:14 (five years ago) link

mostly the voice is what put it over the top

Squeaky Fromage (VegemiteGrrl), Friday, 25 May 2018 15:21 (five years ago) link

I am convinced that Rupaul is selfhating and takes it out on black contestants pic.twitter.com/MW36gs7QL5

Sidebar: Frankie Grande’s eyes are terrifying.

Genuinely thought he was Cynthia Lee Fontaine for a split second.

trishyb, Friday, 25 May 2018 17:13 (five years ago) link

The problem was that Monet didn't know the words in the lip sync, and Kameron was on every syllable. And Ru had already played the "nobody goes home this week" card.

trishyb, Friday, 25 May 2018 17:15 (five years ago) link

I caught maybe one minor flub from Monet. The editors were clearly trying to make it look very, very close.

nourish nourish your turtleheart (Eric H.), Friday, 25 May 2018 17:16 (five years ago) link

Nice of Rupaul to show up.

Genuinely thought he was Cynthia Lee Fontaine for a split second.

With makeup by Bianca! The resemblance was so eerie.

I thought Manet was doing well in the lipsync up until she went offstage to prepare for a messy-as-hell splits into a slide.

Also I keep linking to Cracker's youtubes but this one has real pathos:

Young Lunchy (Leee), Saturday, 26 May 2018 05:06 (five years ago) link

yeah i mean i love her to death but Monet had her back to the camera for that whole walk to the back of the stage, cmon girl know yr words

how goid was cracker’s makeup for cookie
she looked like a more reasonable Trixie Mattel lol

Squeaky Fromage (VegemiteGrrl), Saturday, 26 May 2018 05:28 (five years ago) link

they telegraphed monet going home when she did that run and slide down the runway and cracked the light bulb and they cut to ru making a sort of confused and disturbed face. it was kinda poignant in a way, like the magician was out of tricks.

J0rdan S., Saturday, 26 May 2018 16:00 (five years ago) link

miz cookie is the wintergreen of the season, also so glad cracker finally got a win

clouds, Saturday, 26 May 2018 23:02 (five years ago) link

Ugh Aquaria was terrible this episode and I think Monet actually did a great job and shouldn’t have even been in the bottom 2!!

the masseduction of lauryn hill (Stevie D(eux)), Sunday, 27 May 2018 10:43 (five years ago) link

Yeah Aquaria should have been in the bottom. Aquaria looked like she just threw a red duvet on Kingsley & told him to figure it out. Poor dude looked not very good at all.

Squeaky Fromage (VegemiteGrrl), Sunday, 27 May 2018 14:53 (five years ago) link

I thought Capricia Corn's dress was boring, but she looked very pretty. I didn't expect Kingsley to make a pretty queen. Tyler Oakley on the other hand... I don't know I guess I just don't love Monét's sense of style, although she's very loveable.

The mini challenge was a lot of fun and kind of hot. Asia was giving me Tyson Beckford realness!

LeRooLeRoo, Sunday, 27 May 2018 15:56 (five years ago) link

yeah she was great.
Aquaria’s pencil mustache was ... odd

Squeaky Fromage (VegemiteGrrl), Sunday, 27 May 2018 16:00 (five years ago) link

So, when you do everything within your power not to cause drama or be a bitch and the show producers STILL do everything in their power to make a villain out of you.

That's what tonight's all about, pretty much.
