it's got 67.1% yes votes on DATM, so not a complete design travesty like the Leeds one, but not quite blanket approval! I think it's ok.

calzino, Monday, 11 June 2018 09:40 (five years ago) link

i think it looks nice!

nxd, Monday, 11 June 2018 09:44 (five years ago) link

It is sort of linked to all that "Terrier mentality" bollox from the marketing dept, where we try market ourselves as a small club, whilst spending £17m on a defender. It wears a bit thin for me, prem money is so ridic these days - the smallness of small club ain't quite what it used to be!

calzino, Monday, 11 June 2018 09:45 (five years ago) link

but at least it is traditional part of the club's identity.

calzino, Monday, 11 June 2018 09:45 (five years ago) link

I'm more happier with the signs at Hudds station reminding any passing Leeds fans that we are indeed still an EPL club. And they haven't bothered advertising Leeds season tickets on Northumberland St for a few years now!

calzino, Monday, 11 June 2018 09:57 (five years ago) link

100k per week seems cheap in context for alli to sign

Just for comparison, Celtic's highest transfer fee paid is £6m - for Sutton in 2000 and Hartson in 2001. By the way, the top 3 transfer fees paid for a Celtic player are from the same club - the football colossus that is Southampton FC. And people wonder why Celtic can't compete in Europe.

some butthurt Newcastle Utd fan wrote a blog about what a disgrace it is that a tinpot clubs like Town, Brighton and Bournemouth have all smashed their transfer record in the last few years.

calzino, Monday, 11 June 2018 12:15 (five years ago) link

It's not much fun being a feeder club for Southampton.

We can be herpes (Tom D.), Monday, 11 June 2018 12:21 (five years ago) link

My heart would bleed for you Tom but your financial resources are ridiculous in terms of the SPFL (6-9 times the wage bill of Aberdeen and Hearts, not to mention million pound+ transfer fees). More money in transfer fees to Celtic would make it even more of a procession.

In terms of the English Premier League that 6-9 multiplier is the difference in wage bill between top spenders Man City and 17th to 20th .

I'm Finn thanks, don't mention it (fionnland), Tuesday, 12 June 2018 07:35 (five years ago) link

AVB to Real is being talked up by the French press and must happen.

this whole meltdown is incredible, and if it sees off the club president bruno de carvalho after all his outbursts the schadenfreude will be exquisite

Players said to have stopped decision to change coaches prior to World Cup. Seemed nonsensical. https://t.co/7n6Nlxmsgk

Patricio confirmed for Wolves, softens the Cav blow more than a bit

The Savic Detectives (Noodle Vague), Monday, 18 June 2018 17:11 (five years ago) link

I figured some big dog would be coming in. I think Cav is a bit more of an exciting prospect than VLP was! Goodness the hubris of VLP talking about how Town are just a "stepping stone" for him last season, yeah I'm sure the likes of Internazionale are on the case!

calzino, Monday, 18 June 2018 18:35 (five years ago) link

Oh Cav is 10 times the player VLP is. I'm only raising my doubts in the interest of honesty, he was a big player for us last season.

The Savic Detectives (Noodle Vague), Monday, 18 June 2018 18:37 (five years ago) link

I meant Patricio>Wolves as the big dog obv, but as blase as I'm getting about £10m + signings - Cav is still a very "big dog" signing for us!

calzino, Monday, 18 June 2018 18:56 (five years ago) link

Yeah I get ya. This is total unknown territory for us too, enjoying getting angry with dickheads who want us to sign a "20 goal a season striker" like they *still* don't understand the system

The Savic Detectives (Noodle Vague), Monday, 18 June 2018 18:58 (five years ago) link

from what I've been reading he's got some impressive end product and a tremendous work rate, somehow we managed to get out of the champo without a player like that, and then survive a prem season with the same deficiency!

calzino, Monday, 18 June 2018 19:09 (five years ago) link

I'm sort of excited because him going implies a like for like replacement to me and God knows

Or

This could be the start of the "club as business" phase, for Fosun and Mendes

The Savic Detectives (Noodle Vague), Monday, 18 June 2018 19:11 (five years ago) link

the Belgium press are reporting we've already signed another winger, Anthony Limbombe from Club Brugge for 12m euros, so VLP can get his dream move to bigger club now!

calzino, Tuesday, 19 June 2018 08:21 (five years ago) link

Looks like the Cav move to Town has broken down:( or :)!

calzino, Tuesday, 19 June 2018 20:11 (five years ago) link

Dutch midfielder Juninho Bacuna (Groningen) is off to Huddersfield, apparently.

lbi's life of limitless european glamour (Le Bateau Ivre), Wednesday, 20 June 2018 10:01 (five years ago) link

as long as he's competition for Mooy, rather than a replacement, I'm cool!

calzino, Wednesday, 20 June 2018 10:12 (five years ago) link

He's way too inexperienced to replace Mooy, but tbh I think it's a good (and cheap) gamble! He's young and brash but undeniably talented. Dutch top 3 (PSV, Ajax, Feyenoord) have been sleeping on him.

lbi's life of limitless european glamour (Le Bateau Ivre), Wednesday, 20 June 2018 10:21 (five years ago) link

that's good to hear, and Mooy says he wants to stay at Town anyway, and isn't the type for bullshit player blandishments and he clearly values his relationship with Wagner.
