one of our troglodytes tried it a few weeks ago against the abortion bill and the ceann comhairle rather bemusedly told him we didnt allow that then had him fucked out

I have a question about incitement laws because I'm not clear about this. If somebody said that Philip Davies and whoever that other cunt was should be brutally murdered that would probably be incitement right? Just wondering.

Colonel Poo, Friday, 15 June 2018 22:53 (five years ago) link

I think that most human beings agree that upskirting is abusive and grim and this is the one thing everyone was supposed to agree on and it's just terrible PR for the Tories for their MP and to be the one to torpedo it on an abstract point of principle (yeah right).

I don’t really understand this either? I would have thought it had been cracked down on after Parnell et al successfully obstructed legislation this way (yeeeeo) but why turn down a useful tool I guess? Funny that we don’t allow it though!

Procedures committee did recommend banning it fwiw.

Chope was apparently unaware of what ‘upskirting’ is and also shouted down a bill making it an offence to attack police dogs and horses so I assume he just objects to new laws in general - though that libertarianism obviously doesn’t extend to gay marriage, etc.

Explanation of general opposition to private members’ bills doesn’t wash, there’s a lot of previous.

The government’s opposition to cannabis oil is ridiculous and should hurt them.

I’ve written to the Home Secretary urging him to allow legal prescriptions of cannabis oil for medical purposes.

After PM's speech with no wifi here's short version - 1. NHS getting a lot of extra £££ in exchange for reform 2. PM won't say who specifically is going to pay 3. No 10 stands by claim that Brexit dividend can be source of some of £££, uncertain at best, misleading at worst

fuck me, as an ex-epileptic and with another ex-epileptic in the house, I'm thinking it is a good job ppl don't use Epilim or Tegretol as recreational drugs. Although I used to enjoy getting pissed on 2 cans when I was on Tegretol!

calzino, Monday, 18 June 2018 18:00 (five years ago) link

You have to spell it out to appreciate the enormity: this government would rather people die than risk an increase in access to a very accessible non-lethal substance. You'd think some public-spirited journalist might want to make big deal of that.

https://www.theguardian.com/society/2018/jun/18/parkinsons-and-ms-spared-benefit-retesting-u-turn-pip-assessment?CMP=share_btn_tw

this is good news, I think. But I had a verbal blast at an MS nurse last week who tried to say the criteria for the mobility element of PIP had changed and was encouraging the partner to apply to an MS charity for a mobility scooter rather than re-apply for PIP. I told her she was talking crap and the downright arbitrary and dishonest nature of PIP assessments isn't a criteria ffs!

tbh I wouldn't mind seeing the breakup of the UK after Brexit either, maybe I'd move to Scotland if they'd let me

As a regular reader of the home of conservatism, the comments on that Nicky Morgan article are unreal even by their standards.

wow, yes!

"It says it all, really, that an older male Tory MP should object to outlawing a sexual crime which makes use of twenty-first century technology."

What a vile woman, trying to score points for your libtard agenda by smearing a colleague. "
---
"WOW!
Actually be careful here. Out in the middle of nowhere - in other words north of Watford - things are changing fast. Our town ((Wisbech) is now Baltic. Peterborough centre and Mall are now more foreign than Dubai (I mean this).
I speak to local people and, secretly, we find homosexuality (most of the people I speak to are my age - 70s) embarrassing and something that should not be paraded about. We also are concerned about fussy government interfering with our lives. The women I speak to think that permissiveness on MTV and so on has gone too far. "
---

"If the NHS needs funding then use our Overseas Aid budget. Which idiot thought up the idea to give Rwanda £62M so they could give £30M to Arsenal football club. Come back Farage. Who on earth would vote for this bunch?"

---

"We should all be prepared to abstain or vote tactically at the next general election if there is not a full and complete Brexit."

---

"That's a good enough reason not to. The Sun warned against Labour being led by a Gay Mafia when the right-on Blair took over and filled his Cabinet with homosexuals, but they would have nothing on the new, modern "Conservative" party. "

Britain's Sexiest Cow (jed_), Tuesday, 19 June 2018 18:01 (five years ago) link

omg yes the septugenarian homophobe was the one I was thinking of. They’re always going on about how they hate Cameron and how everyone to the left of JRM is a Lib Dem.

Surely in this era of feminism, all females should be able to look after themselves just as men do. Why should they need special laws applicable only to their sex, we are all equal now.

Britain's Sexiest Cow (jed_), Tuesday, 19 June 2018 18:23 (five years ago) link

We should poll some of these takes tbh.

In Grantham, I hear as many Polish speakers as English. But my Polish neighbours are friendly and the Latvian's ain't bad.
The town is a hotbed of homosexuality. We are run by a gay mafia. Mr Boles is the Mp, the council leader is gay and I suspect the deputy is too. The bishop is also gay, as am I.
Of course, safer to be in the countryside than in Islamic Leicester.
