Yeah still on the webstore as that, so hope it ain'ty different with the next one. He was just announcing it on FB or maybe commenting on a Guardian story about the Canadian paper tariff, possibly a combination of the 2.

New edition has apparently arrived from the printers. Mike Stax just saying that on Facebook 34 minutes ago.http://webstore.ugly-things.com/ugly-things-49-p406.phpBritish R&B hitmakers MANFRED MANN are covered via extensive interviews with Paul Jones and Tom McGuinness by Richie Unterberger. Eric Davidson gets the full lowdown on Cleveland post-punk glam-infested geniuses DEATH OF SAMANTHA, and Mike Dugo presents the story of one of Chicago's most revered '60s garage acts, THE KNAVES. There's also an interview with HERVE ZENOUDA, who takes you deep inside the '70s punk scene in Paris with STINKY TOYS, STRIKE UP, LOOSE HEART and ANGEL FACE. Greg Prevost interviews EMITT RHODES, Ric Menck covers LA power pop icons THE QUICK, Mike Stax digs into the world of Dutch Beat bashers THE KWYET, and Harvey Kubernik gives new insight into THE ROLLING STONES in 1968. Plus our outstanding reviews of reissues and rock-related books. (152 pages)

Liking the sound of that!

Just getting around to this latest issue now and loving it. Emitt Rhodes interview is a reprint of an old interview from 1997 but excellent (and a good impetus for me to finally listen to The American Dream which is just about as good as the S/T which I’ve *almost* burned out on). Also a huge fan of the Ric Menck feature on The Quick, which is available on Spotify and excellent Sparks-y glam produced by Kim Fowley and Earle Mankey at The Beach Boys’ Brother Studios. Also turned me on to the Harumi record produced by Tom Wilson.

Do you have a copy yet. Just waiting for State Records to get their supply. Not sure if they're physically circulating yet or still at printers.

New issue out, got mine Saturday. Great Randy Holden lead feature -- someone whose name I've always known but that's about it, and the whole story about the Population II album is arguably much more interesting than the Blue Cheer stint. Also, bonus info on what exactly Sunn (the original amp company) was all about.

Also stepping back an issue, that Lost and Found lead feature was a hell of a thing, easily another big 'keeper' of a piece among their best.

waiting for State Records to get them again.
I have taht Randy Holden Population II somewhere. I think there was an interview with Perfect Sound Forever about 15 years ago where he was talking about Lebanese influences which he shared with Dick Dale he was also in the other Half who may be getting a reissue sometime in the near future.
― Stevolende, Monday, 5 August 2019 18:52 (four years ago) link
ooh i gotta read that
I think the Other Half album is underrated but I seem to be in the minority... but it had a vibe kind of like the Savage Resurrection where you feel like they captured the moment garage/psych crystallized into something heavier.

that Randy Holden interview is something else ... I can't understand why the Population II duo of guitarist + simultaneous drummer and keyboardist didn't work out
part 2 of the Lenny Kaye interview is great, especially the part about ghosting Waylon Jennings' autobiography

New one just dropped into my letterbox yesterday.I think State records may be the only place in the UK who have it now. Not sure if you needed to prebook a copy.Had happened to walk into Rough Trade East on the day of teh Flying Luttenbachers show over Xmas and saw it on th ecounter. Not sure what else is actually open anyway.
Anyway great stuff.

There was only ever going to be one cover story this time around, sadly:
Celebrating the USPS and all it has provided given not just one but two things in the mail today. First, the new _Ugly Things_ issue, with the only possible cover given Phil May's passing three months back... pic.twitter.com/ED5u76THcD— Ned Raggett (@NedRaggett) August 12, 2020

Just picked that up copy up myself. Thankfully this seems to be the only music magazine (well, Rolling Stone, but that barely counts) my newsstand is still getting during the pandemic. No Wire, no Decibel, no Mojo, no Uncut, but I was really glad for a new Ugly Things to show up.

that's a good interview ... Jonathan Richman's annotated sketches of VU guitar gear are also cool
― Brad C., Thursday, 15 April 2021 18:20 (three years ago) link
yeah agree. spoiler alert: gretsch country gentleman + added strat pickup + heavy flatwound strings + high action + stereo outputs into vox superbeatle.

Indeed both those pieces are great. Another striking issue

New issue arrives with some sad news: Don Craine of the Downliners Sect, whose "Movin' On Down the Line" columns were always a very entertaining read, passed in February. Won't be the same without his missives, and I am glad they were able to get in some live shows in recent times.
