Werder Bremen have got Klaassen in a half price sale. I bet Everton had pay off some of his 100k a week contract to seal the deal, Koeman not fit to be let near a L1 budget!

calzino, Friday, 27 July 2018 09:51 (five years ago) link

Klaassen wil earn € 3.5m at Werder, still not bad for a water bearer. Think it's a big mistake by Bremen. He'll be back in the Eredivisie in one or two years.

Are Grealish (at a third of what Villa want to sell him for) and Martial (in exchange for Toby) the only vaguely solid Spurs rumours at the moment?

Wag1 Shree Rajneesh (ShariVari), Friday, 27 July 2018 09:56 (five years ago) link

Since the 22-0 vs that Austrian pub side EFC's pre-season results have been 1-1, 0-0, 0-1, 0-3. That last one a very strong XI vs Blackburn. So all good then.

Michael Jones, Friday, 27 July 2018 10:00 (five years ago) link

xo no weve signed a golden boot winner, one of asias top attacking prospects, a younf argentine who had a good spell at roma a few years back, etc etc

dele alli my bookmarks (darraghmac), Friday, 27 July 2018 10:08 (five years ago) link

hah pre-season results are a funny game. We beat a full strength Lyon 3-1 just 9 days after getting a comprehensive 3-0 arsekicking by the mighty Accy Stanley.

calzino, Friday, 27 July 2018 10:08 (five years ago) link

idk how to quantify solidity but a fair amount of noise about de Ligt, Kovacic, Sessegnon. Lucas basically a new signing

I'm not rushing to put any spurs players in my fantasy football team

ogmor, Friday, 27 July 2018 10:10 (five years ago) link

de ligt has died down with weeks, sessegnon stopped as soon as fulham won promotion, kovacic is joao moutinho 2, agree about lucas tho

we'll make a big money move for martial when its too late (if it ever was gonna happen) and toby will go.

one cm from a ligue un team will come in maybe if dembele goes

dele alli my bookmarks (darraghmac), Friday, 27 July 2018 10:11 (five years ago) link

City's wide forwards are an absolute fantasy football nightmare as well. Who starts the majority of games out of Sterling, Sane and Mahrez?

Matt DC, Friday, 27 July 2018 10:56 (five years ago) link

☢☠ FANTASY FOOTBALL POST ☠☢

not just the forwards, city's rotation is offputting all round. mahrez might play slightly deeper. sane is on my shortlist but there are lots of new/exciting options and starting elevens yet tbc. of the big boys liverpool have the most temptingly nailed squad. I'm liking the look of felipe anderson and surely pellegrini will sort wham out. chelsea midfielders are absurdly underpriced in FF atm and some of them have to start, ramsey & mkhitaryan likewise.

ogmor, Friday, 27 July 2018 11:30 (five years ago) link

yeh mkh seems a must have at his value

nxd, Friday, 27 July 2018 11:35 (five years ago) link

Neves and Moutinho probably will play a lot if fit, and i'm quietly expectant altho this is an unknown really

first 2 games home to Everton and away at Leicester, good markers. then some Manchester club.

i will never trust preseason again after the david bentley/darren bent fiasco

My possibly erroneous recollection of Spurs' pre-seasons is that whenever we have a great one we promptly lose our first three league games.

groovypanda, Friday, 27 July 2018 11:51 (five years ago) link

NV please give me the inside info on wolves. what kind of name is diogo and how much does he know about the onion bag? is douglas set to be a desirable asset in the current market?

ogmor, Friday, 27 July 2018 12:03 (five years ago) link

got me douglas and jota atm

nxd, Friday, 27 July 2018 12:12 (five years ago) link

Jota could net 10 plus this season and we'll maybe need him to. Quick-footed, plays as a left-sided forward in our front 3 usually, only in his early 20s, could make a real name for himself this season. Probably the best forward in our team right now.

We've accepted an offer from Leeds for Douglas. He was great last season, especially from dead balls, and a big part of the promotion side. But he's 28 and it looks like Nuno doesn't think he's quick enough to play wing back in the Prem, so. It's a shame but selling him speaks to our ambition bordering on hubris.

the Joao looked at Jonny (Noodle Vague), Friday, 27 July 2018 12:15 (five years ago) link

I expect us to mostly stay 3-4-3, the front 3 are usually very fluid and interchangeable around a false 9 or target man who I'm expecting to be Jimenez for the most part, but we're not finished buying yet.

Defensively, Willy Boly is a beast who is gonna be massive fun I hope. Connor Coady as a Prem level sweeper? We'll see.

the Joao looked at Jonny (Noodle Vague), Friday, 27 July 2018 12:18 (five years ago) link

Christ I hope these Pepe rumours are true

Windsor Davies, Friday, 27 July 2018 12:24 (five years ago) link

Them rumours keep circulating but idk. I will love it cos he's got a bunch of our fans moaning already at the mere thought. We do need another centre half probably, depending on where he wants Saiss.

the Joao looked at Jonny (Noodle Vague), Friday, 27 July 2018 12:27 (five years ago) link

My possibly erroneous recollection of Spurs' pre-seasons is that whenever we have a great one we promptly lose our first three league games.

Given that the majority of our squad made it to the last weekend of the World Cup, this is definitely happening.

I'd Rather Kecak (NickB), Friday, 27 July 2018 14:18 (five years ago) link

I was going to say it's a pity Celtic don't go for Douglas but I think he plays in the same position as Tierney and there are literally no British left sided defenders I would take ahead of Tierney.

Father Ted in Forkhandles (Tom D.), Friday, 27 July 2018 14:27 (five years ago) link

am very surprised nobody but Leeds seems to have made an offer

the Joao looked at Jonny (Noodle Vague), Friday, 27 July 2018 14:29 (five years ago) link

I'm sure Celtic or indeed anybody could beat Leeds to any player these days, just by not paying with shoeboxes full of fivers over 6 year instalments!

calzino, Friday, 27 July 2018 14:37 (five years ago) link

I suspect Leeds are a bit like Rangers, you don't know why anyone would sign for them or how anyone signs for them, but they do.

Father Ted in Forkhandles (Tom D.), Friday, 27 July 2018 14:41 (five years ago) link

I was in Leeds for a few days last week and was really struck by how few LUFC shirts I saw being worn. Like, I saw one a day on average, and I was out and about in town and in some burbs each day. I swear they used to be everywhere, even outside the football season?

I saw a gloomy looking fellow wandering out of the LUFC Official shop in the Merion Centre, but he was wearing a Nirvana shirt.

Tim, Friday, 27 July 2018 14:50 (five years ago) link

would you rather be managed by rodgers or bielsa

ogmor, Friday, 27 July 2018 14:51 (five years ago) link

there used to be visceral outrage when Leeds advertised season tickets in Hudds. It was reduced to lols last year and then complete yawning indifference this year, when a modest poster ad appeared at the train station. I keep telling people: be merciless and keep the hating strong and cherish the sneery lols, because reversals of fortune with local rivals in football are often swift and sometimes last generations.

imago, Friday, 27 July 2018 15:44 (five years ago) link

i think back in the 70s and 80s you probably saw as many LUFC shirts as Hull City shirts round these parts, a thing that feels like ancient history today.

the Joao looked at Jonny (Noodle Vague), Friday, 27 July 2018 15:48 (five years ago) link

Golovin has just gone to Monaco, which is likely to be a much better move than Chelsea or United.

xps its a pretty safe bet imo, he looked a good candidate for leaving on a high at end of last season, his new contract frankly was a surprise but came with big assurances that the business would be done early.

now its a week to go and hes announcing that michael vorm is like a new signing

as a rule im a levy fan but hes pushed it this time and for no apparent reason. maybe didnt enjoy public ultimamtum styles back in may/june idk.
