I like this idea a lot. A place to swap apple pie recipes, chat about baseball and american football without european interlopers, encourage a spirit of entrepeneurship

x-post - I'm rather disheartened with talking politics on ILX. I don't know whether I'd feel better about it if there was an I Love Politics board. I'd certainly check it, if there was one though. But there are so few political threads on ILE now, I can't imagine an ILP board thriving.

I'll stick with my original assessment in the first few answers to this thread.

It would be less like I Love Music, with large numbers of active threads, and more like I Love Hoops or I Love Books, where one sprawling central thread captures 95% of the traffic, and subsidiary threads see very little interest.

You think that if politics threads were balkanized, it would just turn into one rolling thread? Given the current number of politics threads on ILE, I highly doubt it.

It is true that there's more than one behemoth political thread going most of the time these days. Right now there are 3. The Democratic Primary and Brexit Lol threads are capturing well over 60% of the politics traffic. The Tory leadership thread, which is going strong now, will soon peter out.

The monthly US politics thread is down to 10% or so of the politics thread traffic. Not a heck of a lot of play on any of the other region/country specific threads. I guess the SCOTUS thread could be called politics, but it is very sporadically active.
