"hello I am Britney, I am 21F, I'm really bored and looking to talk to ppl."
I was looking at a Playstation thread and saw some funny stuff with people interacting with sex bots. Don't know if this works, but it was funny:

I’m mildly ecstatic that I will get to finally replay and (this time I promise) finish FF XII in HDAnd the possibility that my kid might learn how to kick ass at Ice Climber without having to break the law, this is important to me in ways most people will never understand

the gambit system is the best battle system in all FF games that are not FF Tactics games

Is Undertale worth it? I know next to nothing about it except people are really cagey about spoilers.
― Josh in Chicago, Tuesday, 18 September 2018 20:51 (five years ago) link
it's really good but being a subversion of jrpgs you wont necessarily get a lot out of it if you're not familiar with the genre
― ciderpress, Tuesday, 18 September 2018 21:21 (five years ago) link
JRPG is Japanese roll playing game right? It's not about school girl underwear is it?
― Josh in Chicago, Tuesday, 18 September 2018 22:02 (five years ago) link
like most game genres, female JRPG characters often fight in a combination of underwear and corsets, and heroes are perpetually 15-17 years old
― Karl Malone, Tuesday, 18 September 2018 22:10 (five years ago) link
undertale is mostly playing off 8bit/16bit era ones so before we got to that point
if you're familiar with earthbound the tone is pretty similar
― ciderpress, Tuesday, 18 September 2018 22:39 (five years ago) link
I forgot a key point about Undertale when I unreservedly recommended it to my mom: it is actually a top-down schmup

is it possibly to beat the entire game passively?
― Karl Malone, Wednesday, 19 September 2018 01:47 (five years ago) link
yes on your 2nd playthrough. after you beat the game normally it challenges you to do that

any of you other doofuses donate $20 to Nintendo because you didn't think about the difference between the year of online service and the year of family online service
― El Tomboto, Thursday, 20 September 2018 19:19 (five years ago) link
i'll just begrudgingly pay my $20 but waiting until the next time i feel like playing something online which could be anytime between now and December
― ciderpress, Thursday, 20 September 2018 19:24 (five years ago) link
I don't really have any online play interest on switch yet but I'm sorta tempted to subscribe for the NES games & then I can teach my son about Bo Jackson in Tecmo Bowl
― droit au butt (Euler), Thursday, 20 September 2018 19:26 (five years ago) link
none of the NES games are big enough selling points to me, just a minor bonus. I've played the good ones plenty already and don't really have nostalgia for that generation of games. i just want to play fighting games online sometimes and insure my stardew valley save file
when they finally get to SNES games that will make it all feel more worthwhile
― ciderpress, Thursday, 20 September 2018 19:37 (five years ago) link
kinda happy that the NES games are just a bunch of roms in an emulator, means they can add them quicker than their old way of building a custom emulator for each game. Not many that I'm interested in playing so far but Adventures Of Lolo is coming soon, love that series. I've fallen down the Monster Hunter hole again, Switch version is like my platonic ideal of the "old style" of MH.

I have a 7 year old and Splatoon 2 so it was basically mandatory that I cough it up on day 1, hence the fuckup and paying 36% more than I should have

get another switch, problem solved
i immediately bought this because i have never finished mario 3 and i can’t think of a more appealing box to play mario 3 on. that said i wish the emulation was less barebones: i want scanlines and bloom, it looks way too clean.

Dead Cells: I beat the Hand Of The King, twice. Then I beat him on hard mode, twice. Then I got my ass handed to me on Very Hard mode.
My tactic-- it's basically one that has been outlined elsewhere-- always upgrade Survivability. Otherwise, upgrade highest HP gains. Emphasize damage reducing items-- good amulet, and a shield (even if you don't use it, it reduces damage passively). Take YOLO and Tough Nut, then either Efficiency (if it's good accessories) or Ammo (if it's bows). Ideal accessory combo is Wolf Trap and Crusher (both green). Hope for good legendaries. Ideal weapon is a legendary Infantry Bow, which has come up fairly often. I have won with Legendary Hayabusa Gloves and Legendary Pyromancy, also. Make sure accessories and primary weapon have comorbid modifiers-- have them all do major burning or major frozen or major poison or major bleeding. My secondary weapon is always an Ice Bow or a shield-- almost never anything else.
Rush through Level 1, killing next to nobody, rolling rolling rolling, and get two upgrades and the major chest and at least one accessory. Make it to the timed door on Promenade. Rush through again, only stopping for scrolls, treasure side-tracks, starred enemies and any elites. Make it to the timed door on Ramparts. Run run run, get everything on the level, only stop to kill the swarming flying shitbirds. I can kill The Concierge with practically anything-- do it before 15 minutes, but this is the "soft" deadline-- the important deadline is the Stilt Village timed door. Take a little more time on Stilt Village, kill a few things, don't get swarmed by warping worms-- the timed door on Sepulcher is fairly easy to make, if you have made the Stilt Village timed door. Once you make the Sepulcher timed door, slow down and start killing things, kill everything. Upgrade only the items you think you'll keep to the end. If all goes well, you'll have somewhere between 15-20 Survivability going into the Castle, a great (fast) primary weapon, and a great combo of accessories (again: Crusher is essential, Wolf Trap extremely useful, maybe Death Orb-- sometimes I get Corrupted Power or similar just for damage reduction).
Final boss with Tough Nut is still very tough, but doable. By the fifth or tenth failed attempt you'll start to get his patterns.

a lot of people like buying physical copies of games, especially JRPG fans.
this is just a rerelease/port of 3 extremely niche ps3 games though so it doesn't really make sense for them to manufacture/distribute since only like 1000 people are going to buy it regardless of format
― ciderpress, Wednesday, 26 September 2018 14:31 (five years ago) link
there's a couple publishers whose entire business is producing small print run physical editions of indie games for the insane collector types who refuse to buy a digital game for $20 but will buy a hard copy for $40
― ciderpress, Wednesday, 26 September 2018 14:35 (five years ago) link
bizarre, gamers are the worst
― karl...arlk...rlka...lkar..., Wednesday, 26 September 2018 14:38 (five years ago) link
physical copies still serve an important purpose in a world where AAA games are pushing the 50gb bluray capacity and broadband internet isn't accessible to everyone, also they obv allow for a secondary market which is big in some parts of the world. people also have concerns about digital storefronts eventually shutting down and their game collections going away with them which is certainly a problem but i'm optimistic that preservation efforts will outpace that.
