It is well written (with maybe a few overreaching metaphors).

It's not only the insanely bad timing w/r/t current events, it's that they buried the lede that Pinegrove's shelved record is suddenly coming out in 2 days. Piece itself is bizarre though and shouldn't have been published as is. But ya know $$$

Not really having known anything about that band or that dude's statement, I thought it was fascinating.

the replies to her tweet with the story are all dudes being like "great piece, i love this band!" and everyone else being "you are trash you rape apologist"

that's why it's so disingenuous and shameful that they published. it's a new 'narrative' for the band and a way forward. I get the band's position and their PR strategy, but anyone that plays along fucking sucks

burying the lede on the album release is sly for sure.

yeah they weren't as rap-focused in 2005 as they are now, but there are more than 300 pre-2006 hip hop reviews in the archives, so "once in a while" is also also unfair.

Making it about Burzum seems like a strawman, as if the old Pitchfork celebrated Metallica and Van Halen and never ran a "worst guitar solos of all time" feature that included "Dazed and Confused" and "Comfortably Numb".
