speaking of hammerin' hank, i knew about all of the racist bullshit he had to face in the run-up to his 715th HR, but it was only recently (in an anecdote in the Invisible Bridge) that i learned that his first words in his speech to the crowd after hitting it were "Thank God it's over". it's kind of interesting that barry bonds said something very similar after hitting his 714th to tie Ruth - "I'm just glad it's over with"

totally off topic, i know, but knowing about all of the death threats aaron was receiving makes it all the more incredible that he remained as calm as he did when 2 white guys ran onto the field to join him on his home run trot

i wouldn't doubt it, given all the death threats, but man, what would you even do if you were those guards and you saw two fans running onto the field? run out onto the field yourself with your gun? stay in the crowd and aim the gun toward the fans? crazy

I don't think you can use the Dodger's current hitting approach and expect to win 3 post-season series in a row. Loud contact comes and goes but the strikeouts remain and this is all they have right now.

Also for all the analytical minded Roberts might just have to admit Jansen might be better as a long reliever than the closer.

I'm sympathetic as I had the same thing.... Nothing makes you feel as fucked as when the doctor says "we're gonna need to do a little surgery on your heart by scarring it repeatedly with a laser".
