has the fiddly bit that brings you to the first unread post in a previously visited thread broke

its been opening threads a good few pages up for me the past few days

also the little blobs that let you choose when voting in a poll have vanished for me (in chrome)

this doesn't matter as polls are bad (and you should feel bad) but they're also not working in the search function when you choose thread or post

if polls improved ilx they'd be illegal

which browser, mark? and which style sheet? (as in the 'I Want to Change the Way The Site Looks...' option in preferences)

(they are called 'radio buttons' btw, because they work the way old radios worked - you can only have one button pressed at a time)

(i choose to call them BLOBS bcz i am a poet and plus the only radio i ever loved had KNOBS aka DIALS, which you turned)

(also the BLOBS on the style sheet prefs page are in fact currently visible)

I was watching an Imagine episode about David Hockney making a stained glass window for Westminster Abbey and he was talking about how we all see things differently and why we do. It made me think of Mark's blobs.

i've realised that i can check how mine looks because don't have a working chrome login

you could try changing the stylesheet from new.css to something else, see if that helps (because it sounds like a css problem and that'll change the css).

i keep forgetting that style sheets exist

It's not a CSS issue, I don't think. They're not showing correctly across all style sheets. I'll take a look.

the idea that people read ILX on anything other than old.css is so profoundly unsettling that i literally can't dwell on it for longer than a few moments because otherwise i'd have to come to terms with the fact that people whose posts i know and cherish are actually living - indeed, have been living this whole time - in an uncouth sans-serif shadow dimension

dark.css seems to make clicked links black-on-black, at least on Firefox.

(correction, dark.css makes ILM topics black-on-black in the SNA view)

sadly no screenshot is possible as they have gone invisible hence the discussion

they render polls impossible (but this is good not bad) and also the search function, since you can't choose posts instead of threads to look through

aha, interesting...

I think there are two different blobs being discussed:
- radio buttons that you use to make choices in polls and searches
- little circles at the start of thread titles on "new answers" pages that are either filled or not depending on if they contain unread messages based on your viewing history

the first of these are the BLOBS, the second just some old circles of no consequence to me whatever

Assuming we are alll talking about the same things the blogs are the bullets next to the thread. They go hollow when a thread you have read before has new answer.

it's a good word and i'm not changing it, be the price eternal misunderstanding (also not being able to vote in polls which i don't care about)
