The blob of a poet

coetzee.cx (wins), Thursday, 8 November 2018 18:04 (five years ago) link

I was watching an Imagine episode about David Hockney making a stained glass window for Westminster Abbey and he was talking about how we all see things differently and why we do. It made me think of Mark's blobs.

brokenshire (jed_), Friday, 9 November 2018 22:50 (five years ago) link

erm bloblessness this is still an issue for me, which makes the search function unuseable :(

mark s, Monday, 12 November 2018 16:08 (five years ago) link

i've realised that i can check how mine looks because don't have a working chrome login

you could try changing the stylesheet from new.css to something else, see if that helps (because it sounds like a css problem and that'll change the css).

koogs, Monday, 12 November 2018 16:13 (five years ago) link

i keep forgetting that style sheets exist

the idea that there are people out there viewing my handcrafted artisanal shitposts on anything other than new.css is... upsetting

I hope your face & dick gets ripped off by chimapzai (bizarro gazzara), Monday, 12 November 2018 16:17 (five years ago) link

It's not a CSS issue, I don't think. They're not showing correctly across all style sheets. I'll take a look.

stet, Monday, 12 November 2018 16:18 (five years ago) link

it's ok BG everyone skips them

mark s, Monday, 12 November 2018 17:21 (five years ago) link

the idea that people read ILX on anything other than old.css is so profoundly unsettling that i literally can't dwell on it for longer than a few moments because otherwise i'd have to come to terms with the fact that people whose posts i know and cherish are actually living - indeed, have been living this whole time - in an uncouth sans-serif shadow dimension

illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Monday, 12 November 2018 18:47 (five years ago) link

wing ding ding tracer

unproven (darraghmac), Monday, 12 November 2018 18:57 (five years ago) link

wait new.css is san serif isn't it?

mark s, Monday, 12 November 2018 18:58 (five years ago) link

*horrible doubts yawn open at feet*

mark s, Monday, 12 November 2018 18:58 (five years ago) link

caek.css for life tbh

two Barongs don't make a Wight (Noodle Vague), Monday, 12 November 2018 19:03 (five years ago) link

yeah new.css is sans serif

I hope your face & dick gets ripped off by chimapzai (bizarro gazzara), Monday, 12 November 2018 19:12 (five years ago) link

i mean i'm looking right at it

mark s, Monday, 12 November 2018 19:16 (five years ago) link

Yeah, that's what Tracer is saying.

Andrew Farrell, Monday, 12 November 2018 19:21 (five years ago) link

yes but what he is also saying is that ilx-as-was was a serif font -- and i once knew this and had entirely forgotten and it's like redpill me now baby i want to see the matrix-vat i'm wallowing in for one brief terrible moment before the horrow overwhelms me

mark s, Monday, 12 November 2018 19:30 (five years ago) link

The radio buttons work in Chrome for me, if this helps?

Stoop Crone (Trayce), Tuesday, 13 November 2018 05:41 (five years ago) link

(I honestly think I'm the only person who uses the "blobs", and not bookmarks)

Stoop Crone (Trayce), Tuesday, 13 November 2018 05:42 (five years ago) link

I am a blobs not bookmarks person

American Fear of Pranksterism (Ed), Tuesday, 13 November 2018 06:24 (five years ago) link

dark.css seems to make clicked links black-on-black, at least on Firefox.

Siegbran, Tuesday, 13 November 2018 12:12 (five years ago) link

(correction, dark.css makes ILM topics black-on-black in the SNA view)

Siegbran, Tuesday, 13 November 2018 12:13 (five years ago) link

what are these... blobs? screenshots anyone?

niels, Tuesday, 13 November 2018 12:23 (five years ago) link

sadly no screenshot is possible as they have gone invisible hence the discussion

they render polls impossible (but this is good not bad) and also the search function, since you can't choose posts instead of threads to look through

mark s, Tuesday, 13 November 2018 12:30 (five years ago) link

aha, interesting...

niels, Tuesday, 13 November 2018 12:39 (five years ago) link

I think there are two different blobs being discussed:
- radio buttons that you use to make choices in polls and searches
- little circles at the start of thread titles on "new answers" pages that are either filled or not depending on if they contain unread messages based on your viewing history

Non, je ned raggette rien (onimo), Tuesday, 13 November 2018 12:58 (five years ago) link

the first of these are the BLOBS, the second just some old circles of no consequence to me whatever

mark s, Tuesday, 13 November 2018 13:09 (five years ago) link

Surely not JR Ewing Larry Hagman?

Non, je ned raggette rien (onimo), Tuesday, 13 November 2018 17:59 (five years ago) link

Oh wait, we have been talking about different things then. Radio buttons are working fine; this must be something your end Mark

stet, Tuesday, 13 November 2018 19:29 (five years ago) link

mark s, Tuesday, 13 November 2018 19:39 (five years ago) link

mark s, Tuesday, 13 November 2018 19:41 (five years ago) link

did you embiggen the page?

brokenshire (jed_), Friday, 16 November 2018 22:17 (five years ago) link

https://www.dropbox.com/s/npvtagb5ys003st/File%2017-11-18%2C%2009%2052%2054.jpeg?raw=1

Assuming we are alll talking about the same things the blogs are the bullets next to the thread. They go hollow when a thread you have read before has new answer.

They are working for me.

American Fear of Pranksterism (Ed), Friday, 16 November 2018 22:56 (five years ago) link

everyone is using "blobs" to mean those, except for the person who started using the word blobs

Bing The Mighty Seat (sic), Friday, 16 November 2018 23:04 (five years ago) link

it's a good word and i'm not changing it, be the price eternal misunderstanding (also not being able to vote in polls which i don't care about)

mark s, Saturday, 17 November 2018 15:26 (five years ago) link

Did you try the extension, mark?

Does newer chrome fix this?

koogs, Saturday, 17 November 2018 15:50 (five years ago) link

haven't tried anything yet, will look into it in the next couple days

mark s, Saturday, 17 November 2018 18:06 (five years ago) link

you've a week until the autechre NTS3 poll finishes.

koogs, Saturday, 17 November 2018 18:50 (five years ago) link

The 2018 lists thread keeps showing up in my bookmarks under its original title ('The 2017 album lists thread').

ArchCarrier, Tuesday, 20 November 2018 19:58 (five years ago) link

yep, no way to fix that afaik

sleeve, Tuesday, 20 November 2018 20:33 (five years ago) link

Doesn't removing then adding the bookmark again fix it?

Non, je ned raggette rien (onimo), Wednesday, 21 November 2018 00:45 (five years ago) link

you can always spot the IT guy

old yeller-at-clouds (darraghmac), Wednesday, 21 November 2018 01:08 (five years ago) link

xp no

sleeve, Wednesday, 21 November 2018 01:24 (five years ago) link

suggested extension does indeed fix this problem (sadly)

Grimes/Claire Boucher thread [Started by der dukatenscheisser (Sanpaku) in January 2012, last updated Thursday, 29 November 2018 12:18 by Matt DC on I Love Music] 68 new answers

This thread's broken on SNA - there is no Matt DC post and the blob stays on unread

Colonel Poo, Thursday, 29 November 2018 12:58 (five years ago) link

The solution is to take ILM off SNA, and unbookmark all ILM threads.

Andrew Farrell, Thursday, 29 November 2018 12:59 (five years ago) link

Matt has probably deleted his post to thread. Add another post, it’ll start working again

Hey guys, I'm not sure exactly what 'search by username' is doing atm but I can at least confirm that it's not searching by username.

all lite up and very romatic (Old Lunch), Monday, 3 December 2018 16:49 (five years ago) link

just searched for posts by you, and it worked.
