so, i am interviewing oOoOo guy tonight. from what i've heard, i like his stuff a LOT better than anything Salem have done, but then again, he's on more of a dubstep kick than a crunk kick.

Salem had been inactive since 2012, with no new releases since their 2011 EP 'I'm Still In The Night'. This lack of activity caused fans to question the status of the band, leading most to assume the band had ended. In July 2016, a new Salem album was announced via photographer Wolfgang Tillmans' Instagram account. Salem officially returned with a remix of Make It Up As You Go Along by Wolfgang Tillmans on his Device Control EP.

trying to figure out if he meant *specifically* Salem, because afaict that dude was originally from san francisco and moved to berlin

some of the earlier stuff on tri angle records is somewhat indebted to that whole early 2010s witch house vibe but everything moved past it quickly. some other people did more vocal manipulation stuff but uh, very few got near the "guy awkwardly ranting lyrics" thing

i want to like this but it’s not very good :-(
