Didn't know she lived out in the desert near Joshua Tree. A nice remembrance from the local paper:

Nice, thanks.

WKCR tribute doesn't seem to have started yet.

This detail surprised me too. She was living in Pioneertown, which is a tiny place built around sets that were made for filming old TV westerns like "The Cisco Kid." There's a "Main Street" with fake saloon, hotel, saddlery, etc. I happened to visit the place early this year. It was extremely windy up there, sagebrush blowing everywhere.

I picked up a copy of her 1968 LP Easy a few weeks ago. It’s nice, cool, breezy. She does the tunes you would expect at that point in time… “Wave,” “Gentle on My Mind,” “Love Is Blue,” and so on.

It’s impressive how many albums she charted in the ‘60s. Her heyday was roughly the same as that of her Capitol label mates the Beatles and the Beach Boys but she sold to more of an adult audience I guess.

Nancy Wilson fans should check out the 1970 Hawaii Five-O episode “Trouble in Mind,” in which she plays a singer with a heroin habit. Harry Guardino plays her pianist/arranger.
