once while fixing my car I found a couple of important carburetor bits held together with a paper clip!

I live in a really small apt. and I don't have a decent closet or room for a chest of drawers, so I keep my clothes in my kitchen cupboards.

i have to say: the lack of handy problem-solving here is alarming

During the two weeks between when I broke my lamp and when I bought a new one (two actually) I fashioned a light-emitting device using little more than a dill pickle, some old candy bar wrappers and two thumb tacks.

Your "light-emitting device" sounds suspiciously like a miniature, makeshift rocket.

Oh, I should probably disclose that by "little more" I meant all the stuff I listed and a flashlight.
