Does anyone else have friends whose whole sense of humor, nay, their whole personality, is based on acting like Butthead, which probably started as a joke, but they couldn't stop talking like that and it eventually took over their life, or is it just me?

NA (Nick A.), Monday, 12 April 2004 01:55 (twenty years ago) link

I think I would have if Kevin Smith hadn't cockblocked Butthead.

Tep (ktepi), Monday, 12 April 2004 01:57 (twenty years ago) link

Fortunately (I guess), the friend I'm thinking of missed that boat. No, wait, that's definately a "Fortunately."

NA (Nick A.), Monday, 12 April 2004 01:58 (twenty years ago) link

It's a fine, fine line, though.

i knew a guy from high school who has practically a dead-ringer for beavis -- both looks-wise AND personality-wise.

The Edie Brickell line was actually about how she's "married to that tiny South African dude who used to be in the Beatles."

alext and i went to see "... do america" when we were meant to be studying for our finals. the bit in the wood museum where the voiceover track says: "how did wood get so hard?" made me laugh for three days.

absolute genius, the whole thing.

I'm so sad that the videos are no longer up... I have the Beavis & Butthead DVD, but it has NO VIDEOS. *sob*

Andi Mags, Sunday, 29 July 2007 22:53 (sixteen years ago) link

apparently judge re-edited them for the dvds as well. i thought they had *some* videos on nonetheless.

anyone remember butthead singing with super vibrato on to mock some sort of posh accent of some videos, his typical abject sneer still frozen on his face but his face, like, all elongated. i would like to find that on youtube to make an animated gif

i always thought that was oingo boingo. but apparently it's the europeans?

GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ, Wednesday, 28 November 2007 16:35 (sixteen years ago) link

Indeed, the Europeans.

An all too exhaustive fan page.

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 28 November 2007 16:46 (sixteen years ago) link

The things you learn! The fate of the lead singer:

Fergus Harper has been elusive since the Europeans split back in 1985.
He is no longer involved in the music business, and now flies long-haul all over the world as a steward with British Airways

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 28 November 2007 16:49 (sixteen years ago) link

the europeans = a bunch of brits that look like howard jones or martin gore should not have tried to sound like oingo boingo.

Eisbaer, Wednesday, 28 November 2007 16:56 (sixteen years ago) link

the christmas episode was great

Beavis: Where's their kids?
Buzzcut (Ghost of Christmas Future): Beavis, don't you get it? They never had enough food to eat, thanks to you.
Beavis: Oh, wait a second, I get it. So they ate their kids?

Santa Butt-Head: Well, Brian, if you want poop for Christmas, Santa Butt-head would be happy to come by and take a dump under your tree.

The time Beavis and Butthead were on Step by Step as blind dates is one of the only things for that (Step by Step) show I (even bothered to) remember.

Otherwise, That one time Beavis injured his head and ranted about the vileness of corporate rock was pretty OTM, no?
