There’s precision here, especially in “If You Know You Know”’s first verse of endless variations on “boy.” That would read as sterile in the hands of nearly any other rapper, but Push has always turned technical perfection into something more than the words he sneers out: a protective armor of cool reserve. Perhaps it’s that reserve that explains his evergreen longevity; Nas, Jay-Z and even Pharrell have been growing increasingly threadbare in their old age. Unlike the rest, it’s clear that Pusha T is rapping only for himself, not for mass appeal. He uses the language of fraternity, of splitting the real and the fake throughout, and he’s matched by the sonics that Kanye West, in rare late period form lends him. It’s a gauntlet of buzzsaw guitars and ringing percussion that Pusha walks leisurely through, unscathed. can't recall exactly but this might be the least bad thing kanye did last year

daytona blew me away first listen, but got a lot weaker over repetition. this track suffered too.

if my two favorite rap songs of the year don’t place i’ll be bummed and weirded out but who knows

i was too suckered in by the beat drop to realize how annoyed i am with pusha's flow on this one

I liked Daytona well enough the first time around but it didn't last, no.

not sure what's not to like about this track in particular and DAYTONA in general; it's held up well enough for me. Games We Play, Santeria and Infrared nearly equally good imo.

This song just makes me want to listen to Wicked Game.

I haven't seen much of my ballot place lately, but yet again it was only 30% American
