mario maker 2 !
― ||||||||, Wednesday, 13 February 2019 22:01 (five years ago) link
oh hell yeah. i missed out on the first one because i didn't have the right system, but i'd be up for a switch sequel for sure.
for those that played the original - was the fun more in making your own silly levels, or playing cool content that others made?
― Karl Malone, Wednesday, 13 February 2019 22:05 (five years ago) link
i would want to make a level that involves a very long fall through a nearly bottomless pit, and then share it with my nephew. he spends hours playing these custom minecraft levels that are nothing but very long drops into a hole. kinda weird but runs in the family
― Karl Malone, Wednesday, 13 February 2019 22:06 (five years ago) link
yoshi looks charming
― ||||||||, Wednesday, 13 February 2019 22:19 (five years ago) link
Yoshi World looks like the Return of Kirby Best Fwends.
― Josh in Chicago, Wednesday, 13 February 2019 22:20 (five years ago) link
That is, toooooo cute.
Fire Emblem aka Oh, so this is where all those Smash Bros. fighters come from.
― Josh in Chicago, Wednesday, 13 February 2019 22:24 (five years ago) link
Oh boy, Tetris.
― Josh in Chicago, Wednesday, 13 February 2019 22:25 (five years ago) link
fire emblem looks really good imo
― ciderpress, Wednesday, 13 February 2019 22:26 (five years ago) link
So Dead By Daylight is Friday the 13th for Nintendo?
― Josh in Chicago, Wednesday, 13 February 2019 22:26 (five years ago) link
also lol at tetris battle royale but also gonna play that immediately
So, um, why does it feel like Switch just didn't have much of a, er, game plan? These games suck.
― Josh in Chicago, Wednesday, 13 February 2019 22:29 (five years ago) link
(Though at the same time, please no new Zelda!)
― Josh in Chicago, Wednesday, 13 February 2019 22:30 (five years ago) link
will play daemon
― ||||||||, Wednesday, 13 February 2019 22:31 (five years ago) link
Whenever it comes out, right?
― Josh in Chicago, Wednesday, 13 February 2019 22:32 (five years ago) link
platinum !
― ||||||||, Wednesday, 13 February 2019 22:34 (five years ago) link
fffffffffffff
― ||||||||, Wednesday, 13 February 2019 22:35 (five years ago) link
Is that a good ffffffff? Because most of this direct was zzzzzzzz. 2019: the year I finally catch up on games.
― Josh in Chicago, Wednesday, 13 February 2019 22:37 (five years ago) link
great direct
― ciderpress, Wednesday, 13 February 2019 22:38 (five years ago) link
not much in it for me but FE and mario maker 2 are probably must buys. daemon, astral chains and link's awakening all have potential
― ||||||||, Wednesday, 13 February 2019 22:39 (five years ago) link
all in on Mario Maker, Fire Emblem, Dragon Quest. biggest wtf was Hellblade port.
― ( X '____' )/ (zappi), Wednesday, 13 February 2019 22:44 (five years ago) link
also really glad I held off on buying DQ11 on PS4 hoo boy
― ( X '____' )/ (zappi), Wednesday, 13 February 2019 22:45 (five years ago) link
astral chain has kamiya + the nier automata designer behind it which is good credentials. thats the big surprise in this one i think
― ciderpress, Wednesday, 13 February 2019 22:47 (five years ago) link
also that new tokyo rpg factory game looks way more appetizing to me than setsuna/lost sphear though im not getting my hopes up
― ciderpress, Wednesday, 13 February 2019 22:49 (five years ago) link
yeah credentials are impeccable. just wish they’d have hit some of the things on my wish list but it’s all good
― ||||||||, Wednesday, 13 February 2019 22:50 (five years ago) link
Josh you're silly
― Norm’s Superego (silby), Wednesday, 13 February 2019 22:52 (five years ago) link
the Fire Emblem seems like kind of a low-key approach to that series compared to the anime maximalism that it could have
the 180(!) cardboard Yoshi outfits make me suddenly on board for getting the Yoshi game
― Norm’s Superego (silby), Wednesday, 13 February 2019 22:55 (five years ago) link
he is so silly
*tickles under josh’s chin*
yeah I could be convinced by yoshi demo
― ||||||||, Wednesday, 13 February 2019 22:56 (five years ago) link
never played a FE before. didn’t think it was so valkyria chroniclesy
― ||||||||, Wednesday, 13 February 2019 22:57 (five years ago) link
No indies other than Deltarune Chapter 1 coming to Switch, hoping for a NoA Nindies video soon
Animal Crossing is going to be one of the biggest releases this year, I think it'll either be the centerpiece of E3 or get its own direct in the next two months
The widely-reported Car Fox is still a no show, I wonder if that will actually get released
― Norm’s Superego (silby), Wednesday, 13 February 2019 22:58 (five years ago) link
xp valkyria chronicles was always just WW2 3D fire emblem
so now that fire emblem is 3D it's even closer
― ciderpress, Wednesday, 13 February 2019 22:59 (five years ago) link
I will dutifully acquire Maker 2 and make exactly three bad levels
― Norm’s Superego (silby), Wednesday, 13 February 2019 23:00 (five years ago) link
animal crossing going to chew up so much time
― ||||||||, Wednesday, 13 February 2019 23:01 (five years ago) link
yeah I imagine they're going to want to reintroduce the whole experience since it's really been a while since the last full-fledged game (New Leaf came out in 2012/2013)
― Norm’s Superego (silby), Wednesday, 13 February 2019 23:03 (five years ago) link
i'm still cackling that nintendo's contribution to the battle royale craze is tetris
― ciderpress, Thursday, 14 February 2019 00:07 (five years ago) link
rarin to get home and download it tbh
― Norm’s Superego (silby), Thursday, 14 February 2019 00:12 (five years ago) link
i've never played link's awakening so i'm pretty excited about that one. also into the idea of tetris99
― Karl Malone, Thursday, 14 February 2019 00:19 (five years ago) link
I am very excited to play link's awakening for the first time in rebooted switch form
― say it with sausages (Sufjan Grafton), Thursday, 14 February 2019 00:22 (five years ago) link
don't know about those goombas, though
battle tetris: i like it

link's awakening a definite buy from me. lot of other interesting stuff too, but mostly that for me
― Nhex, Thursday, 14 February 2019 00:29 (five years ago) link
I got excited from the boat cartoon that it would be Wind Waker, but LA looks great too
― Chuck_Tatum, Thursday, 14 February 2019 00:30 (five years ago) link
the gbc links awakening is my favorite zelda game and possibly just straight up favorite video game so i am more nervous than excited about that one
― ciderpress, Thursday, 14 February 2019 00:34 (five years ago) link
That anime-looking mech battle game looks like it could be fun?
― DJI, Thursday, 14 February 2019 00:35 (five years ago) link
also the goombas are in the original heh. its a weird game
― ciderpress, Thursday, 14 February 2019 00:37 (five years ago) link
places third out of 99 on my first tetris99 game! i haven't played tetris in a long time so it felt pretty good. that was also the first version of tetris i've ever played where you could hold a piece for later. the targeting thing is interesting, i guess. i was too busy trying to play tetris that i found it difficult to glance at the side to pick who to target. near the end i was being targeted by 6 people at once. shortly thereafter i lost.
― Karl Malone, Thursday, 14 February 2019 01:20 (five years ago) link
okeydoke, tetris99 will end up somewhere on my coint & plick 2019 ballot. i had little interest in the recent tetris that everyone raved about because i really don't care about the graphics or what kinds of backgrounds are floating behind the pieces (i know there are many other improvements besides those). but playing against a bunch of people turns out to be a lot of fun
― Karl Malone, Thursday, 14 February 2019 01:43 (five years ago) link
links awakening is a goat game and better than any other Zelda game
but
also not a Nintendo first party developed game iirc
so
hm
― the ghost of tom, choad (thomp), Thursday, 14 February 2019 04:11 (five years ago) link
I’m getting my history mixed up. The engine was developed in collaboration with Intelligent Systems for another game. And they might as well be first party at this point so nm disregard previous post
― the ghost of tom, choad (thomp), Thursday, 14 February 2019 04:14 (five years ago) link
the original links awakening started as an off the clock pet project of some nintendo devs iirc which is why it has some mario enemies in it but then got picked up as an official project. don't think intsys had anything to do with it
the later game boy zeldas were made by capcom, those are the only mainline zeldas that weren't made in-house at nintendo i think
