Also health claims don’t change the flavor, might as well have some imaginary health benefits with your plant water!

Sorry LL, I didn't mean to knock on health bennies right after you posted about them! I feel like a dip. I'm mostly dealing with this on a grocery store-level where there are teas advertising like, "Detox!"

It's just for the most part I want to come at my herbal teas from a flavor perspective.

Don’t sweat it. Detox tea is stupid and is almost certainly ineffective but it can be really tasty — lots of licorice! Milk thistle and osmanthus are both tasty florals, mint and ginger good for everyday. Add a slice of fresh turmeric if you’re feeling crazy. I don’t like lemon in my herbal tea, tastes like vomit.

Been making this tea called Sportea for a few years. It is killer iced. For some reason I thought there was some liquorice in there but apparently it's black and green teas with ginger, mate and something else. Very energizing. Also has some very sweet iced hibiscus tea awhile back on a really warm day and it was godheadlike

I definitely gonna try mint and ginger.

ten months pass...

anyone else pretending that their herbal tea is medicinal in quar times? i made three consecutive pots of ginger/turmeric (fresh) + osmanthus or chrysanthemum flowers (dried) recently. might repeat today since it is snowing (???)

My wife is just getting ready to brew a pot of ginger/turmeric tea.

I fully expect that those things actually do something!! I've bought extra ginger but not made tea w it yet, but maybe you'll inspire me? Yes, rain or snow days feel like optimal tea times. Less tea-ish when the sun is shining.

Rain or shine it’s tea time until I’m warmed up from the inside without the help of hot plant water

I miss sharing/drinking tea w my students :(

Ordered a pound of straight hibiscus to see if it can replace my Red Zinger that’s impossible to find locally. Hopefully rosehips aren’t the magic zinger ingredient.

Rose hips don’t have much flavor imo but hibiscus does — delicious hot or iced!!

Rose petals and rose buds have gentle rosey flavor

Have fun with the hibiscus! I love it.

I'm ready for it to arrive, my only non-coffee/water drink since lockdown has been Topo Chico and I can't afford to drink as much of that as I have been.

My nighttime tipple for years has been hibiscus tea, a palmful of flor de jamaica in a Hario teapot. Sometimes I sweeten it with glycine.

And yeah, its demonstrably medicinal. Hibiscus tea reduces systolic BP.

Made an aggressively strong cold brew just eyeballing amounts. Undiluted, the thing it reminds me of most is beet juice without the overtone of dirt.

Diluted it's still pretty different from Red Zinger (but probably better since I like tart things).
