Greenwald is a weird case where he's never quite been 'on the left', merely being some sort of civil libertarian who has ended making a lot of the same criticisms of things as the left and sharing a lot of ground, but still with the occasional disagreement on ideological grounds and other weirder biases of his. i can't deny that he's done a lot of important work as a journalist but his personal views are a real mess
