this was the soundtrack to early puberty along with that pink album i can never spell. i felt the band and i were growing up together (didn't know they were over twice my age) and that first horny tom verse gave me some strange new feelings

turned out to have longer legs than I think anyone anticipated, fans and probably band included

That bit in Feeling This where they Tom is waaay off-mic under a big drumbeat completes a trilogy of UK hits that do this (cf. Hotlegs' Neanderthal Man and The Goodmen's Give It Up)

so this still fucking rules and dammit tom is still hot in spite of everything. and his weird mannerisms are all over multiple genres now

OK it's not wall to wall bangers as you go on, not all the proggy stuff works and i get it girls are so cruel aren't you like 30. but still a solid album with a handful of all timers

it does pick up again but not sure I'd go that far, maybe it's the relative unfamiliarity of the songs to me- I started this way more than ever I finished it. I assume you're not including the live anthem part 2 (which is fun) as one of the 4

lol no i just think “easy target”/“all of this” is a dope suite, the peak of the record, “here’s your letter” is the better of the two hoppus-songs on the record, and “i’m lost without you” achieves the “shoegaze epic” feel it’s going for, ultimately uh “losing” itself in clouds of guitar riffs and drum fills

album’s appeal (and ava’s appeal if you’re a dumbass who likes them like me) is at least partly that it feels smartly constructed even though it is very very very dumb

I don’t even like BLink 182, but the quiet-loud dynamics on some of these tracks is spectacular.

Apparently this tour is plagued by the same dynamic pricing bullshit as Springsteen's, so a whole new generation of fans are discovering how shitty Ticketmaster is. Seeing reports of up to $800-$900 per ticket. Jesus fuck. I like Blink and saw them when they toured with Green Day, they aren't worth $50 as a live act. Especially now that Tom is only doing this to raise money for his UFO company, I'm highly skeptical they are suddenly going to be a better live act.
