In theory I like the idea of playing dance music with physical instruments, but you have to use it to add something, not to make it sound more glossy and, yes, "prestigious" - the grime prom a couple of years back actually worked, as (I think, you may disagree) does this

It's ancient but Jeremy Deller's Acid Brass had the right tone - it was ludicrous, but it was done with gusto. Here's a live version of "Voodoo Ray", that works because the original track has enough musical material to build an orchestration around:
