And the reason this thread was revived is that it's the third time in a couple of weeks - I think - where the behaviour of xyzzz has caused people to call for him being thread banned. Except never just him, always a group of people. It's quite interesting that nobody ever just goes 'get rid of the problem poster' but always has to both sides it.

Mordy posted the Iowa turn out info many hours after I posted the same on the Berners thread. I followed the story first thing by using ilx and twitter.

Fwiw there isn't one in French and Romanian either, so that would be my amateurish guess as well.

The cognate verb 'bannir' comes close but it doesn't serve quite the same purposes in French.
