i get that they can't edit her out of the show wholesale but i was sorta surprised to the degree with which they leaned on her confessionals, it felt off to me. maybe they'll adjust.

J0rdan S., Saturday, 7 March 2020 22:38 (four years ago) link

It's very possible they simply didn't have time to edit around her given everything that happened. Let's see where things go next week, but if she has a long run on the show, then she'll be in those segments no matter what.

Definitely. Maybe that's deliberate.

Sherry Pie makes those gurning, cross-eyed, drag queen faces that I hate (I get that they're part of the craft and the tradition, but I hate them anyway), so I won't be sorry to see her go. It will be interesting to see how she's written out.

trishyb, Sunday, 8 March 2020 10:29 (four years ago) link

i like jan

J0rdan S., Sunday, 8 March 2020 21:10 (four years ago) link

she seems headed for a break down at some point tho you can't care that much about drag race

J0rdan S., Sunday, 8 March 2020 21:11 (four years ago) link

I like Jan surprisingly as well, and Rock M and Jaida (that bone structure!).

I looked up the cast just now because for the life of me I couldn't remember Dahlia's name, and noticed that this cast is incredibly young: no one over 34, and a total of four contestants in their 30s.

Feminism-Appropriating Regressive Transphobe (Leee), Sunday, 8 March 2020 21:18 (four years ago) link

Yeah, when Jan first falls short this season it's going to make a hell of a thud.

crusty but malignant (Eric H.), Sunday, 8 March 2020 21:40 (four years ago) link

Maybe I've got too narrow a notion of what Fosse should be, but I didn't really get Fosse from a one of them. Also, what Jan was suggesting for choreo was so much closer to the mark than the cheerleader explosion she pulled out on the main stage.

crusty but malignant (Eric H.), Sunday, 8 March 2020 21:42 (four years ago) link

Oh yeah I never want to hear "Fosse" again after that episode.

Feminism-Appropriating Regressive Transphobe (Leee), Sunday, 8 March 2020 22:04 (four years ago) link

Fussy.

Anyway: no LA DragCon:

quote of the week

Jada:
CHILE I AM NOT GOING TO BE THIS DAMN ORANGE. NO.

terminators of endearment (VegemiteGrrl), Saturday, 14 March 2020 17:25 (four years ago) link

Wost episode of RPDR ever ?

LeRooLeRoo, Saturday, 14 March 2020 18:02 (four years ago) link

definitely

aside from Jada’s quote that was a wasteland of lazy bullshit

terminators of endearment (VegemiteGrrl), Saturday, 14 March 2020 19:08 (four years ago) link

Yeah, that was awful. How bad must it have been if this is the best hour they could cobble together out of it?

trishyb, Saturday, 14 March 2020 20:00 (four years ago) link

What was interesting is how they CLEARLY took this past week to do a major minimizing job on Sherry Pie. No confessional appearances whatsoever, the fact that they had to show her winning the episode was almost grudging.

I did like the El Debarge moment.

Ned Raggett, Saturday, 14 March 2020 20:11 (four years ago) link

Yeah that was fun. I just realised the episode is called World's Worst lol.

LeRooLeRoo, Saturday, 14 March 2020 21:03 (four years ago) link

believe the hype

terminators of endearment (VegemiteGrrl), Saturday, 14 March 2020 21:06 (four years ago) link

I was thinking that a low-effort but still shady way to deal with Sherry's presence was to replace all shots and onscreen interactions with her with excerpts from the Buzzfeed episode.

Feminism-Appropriating Regressive Transphobe (Leee), Saturday, 14 March 2020 23:34 (four years ago) link

I'm a big fan of lip-synchs that don't rely on death drops and the splits but that was so... nothing. Just like the rest of the episode.

Given that Ross was really laughing hard through their improv sketch and she won the challenge I'm guessing there was a LOT edited out from Sherry Pie.

boxedjoy, Sunday, 15 March 2020 21:19 (four years ago) link

also I cannot unsee Aiden as Shirley Manson

boxedjoy, Sunday, 15 March 2020 21:20 (four years ago) link

The judges cracking each other up tonight was exactly the thing we all needed tonight.

coronoshebettadontvirus (Eric H.), Saturday, 21 March 2020 01:49 (four years ago) link

Very. But as I just muttered on Twitter, above and beyond whatever Sherry Pie’s done...a *1972* Olympics reference?

Ned Raggett, Saturday, 21 March 2020 04:38 (four years ago) link

Leslie Jones keeping it 100 was everything. And then getting REALLY REAL with Aiden? She's got a permanent spot on the judging panel if she wants it as far as I'm concerned.

Archaeopteryx Morgan M.D. (Leee), Saturday, 21 March 2020 22:16 (four years ago) link

Yeah, she was great. But the show is really awkward now that it's trying to edit around someone who was obviously a very strong contender. All I could see for the last two weeks was how absent Sherry Pie was from the whole thing.

trishyb, Saturday, 21 March 2020 22:30 (four years ago) link

Yeah this is going to be *real* interesting the longer it goes, especially if she turns out to be a final competitor. (On the flip side, it lets other voices stand out all the more and I increasingly think Heidi is a hell of a dark horse because she is FUNNY.)

Ned Raggett, Saturday, 21 March 2020 22:42 (four years ago) link

Agreed. There was something she said under her breath in the v/o and I can't remember what it was, but it was sharp as a tack.

trishyb, Saturday, 21 March 2020 22:45 (four years ago) link

Last night's episode had one or two downright shoddy edits (noticeable in the audio) in it and moments of absolutely slack pacing, I assume the result of them doing whatever they could to minimize Sherry.

coronoshebettadontvirus (Eric H.), Saturday, 21 March 2020 22:50 (four years ago) link

Cosign on Leslie Jones lighting up the whole show - i cried laughing so many times during the runway, her & the judges were vibing! . and her meeting the queens. What she said to Aidan was so right-on, love that about her.

oh And her signing Widow’s yellow shoe omg dying

idgaf about sherrie’s edit tbh, there’s so much talent here even without her it’s not like the episodes are suffering

terminators of endearment (VegemiteGrrl), Sunday, 22 March 2020 00:54 (four years ago) link

Underrated bit -- Leslie's voice singing along with "Covergirl" on the main stage intro.

YESSSSS OMG!!!!!! IMO the only thing that comes close to topping that from recent seasons was Yvie's finale performance.

Jury is still out for me about how good this cast is but otherwise I agree on the Sherry stuff.

Archaeopteryx Morgan M.D. (Leee), Sunday, 22 March 2020 01:36 (four years ago) link

Nobody's pissed about the obvious manipulation of the bottom 2 ?

LeRooLeRoo, Sunday, 22 March 2020 17:55 (four years ago) link

pissed how?

terminators of endearment (VegemiteGrrl), Sunday, 22 March 2020 20:14 (four years ago) link

I didn't get how the eliminated queen was even close to the bottom and it totally felt like she was used to get a reaction from fans.

LeRooLeRoo, Sunday, 22 March 2020 22:21 (four years ago) link

i dunno, it seemed plausible to me. She really did look like a cat toy in the final look & her padding for the first two was soooo bad - her ass had CORNERS

terminators of endearment (VegemiteGrrl), Sunday, 22 March 2020 23:28 (four years ago) link

HAHA well I love cat toys and I might be a bit biased by her appearance out of drag. I dunno, all my group was outraged too. That cup and ball game was genius and her basketball wife was spot on to me.

LeRooLeRoo, Monday, 23 March 2020 03:50 (four years ago) link

Her hair for that first look was amazing! But like the judges said, from the neck down it was like, zero look.

I never really took to her that much, all she seemed to ever do was cry or be like TOO excited, she just came off as manic depressive to me

terminators of endearment (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 23 March 2020 03:59 (four years ago) link

Nice basket tho.

coronoshebettadontvirus (Eric H.), Monday, 23 March 2020 04:14 (four years ago) link

lol

terminators of endearment (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 23 March 2020 05:51 (four years ago) link

LeRoo you are not alone, Alaska & Willam both thought Rockem got unfairly dogwalked

so what do i know lol

terminators of endearment (VegemiteGrrl), Thursday, 26 March 2020 22:54 (four years ago) link

Oh yeah I should've mentioned that I didn't think Rock M should've been lipsycning either! I liked her last look from the knees up, too. Aiden should've been bottom 2 IMO, but I think she's a central figure in the "picked-on noob" edit so will probably hang around a while longer.

Archaeopteryx Morgan M.D. (Leee), Thursday, 26 March 2020 23:44 (four years ago) link

Unfortunatly, I've heard Aiden is getting a lot of hate and backlash online for Ru's decision.

LeRooLeRoo, Friday, 27 March 2020 03:05 (four years ago) link

that really sucks, he doesnt deserve that

terminators of endearment (VegemiteGrrl), Friday, 27 March 2020 03:58 (four years ago) link

I do wish some of the shows fans would catch up that it's the show producers who need to be dragged.

Vegemite Is My Grrl (Eric H.), Friday, 27 March 2020 12:57 (four years ago) link

yep

terminators of endearment (VegemiteGrrl), Friday, 27 March 2020 15:04 (four years ago) link

Well, in combination with who won, how the episode ended and the whole incredibly bad timing of a medically themed episode -- down to a spitting moment -- this easily has to be the episode WoW wishes most that it didn't actually exist.
