I've been trying with True Anon; I kinda love Liz (virtuosic levels of vocal fry!) but I'm still finding that a whole hour+ of Brace is just too much Brace.

I'm guessing each Chapo is making like $400k/year if you include all the live shows and stuff they do and take out expenses. Great for them! I'm assuming it's a similar career trajectory to a pro athlete--15-20 years if they're really lucky, more likely shorter, could just drop off abruptly. God forbid people make a high upper middle class living for a little while while making an enormous difference for political causes.

I'm also glad they inadvertently helped create a broader ecosystem of lefty independent media that can subsist solely on small donations

It's the only thing i have Patreon sub for. It's great - though the interviews are always slightly maddening. There's an immense amount of interesting stuff but they're both completely incapable of staying on one topic for more than thirty seconds.

i want to check out true anon, i have a friend that vouches for it, but idk if i can get used to liz's hardcore vocal fry

I was recently thinking of how impossible it would be to keep up with all the content if you listening to all 12-15 hours a week of the Majority Report, as well as the shows from its hosts current and former (Michael Brooks Show, Literary Hangover, Ring of Fire, Doomed!, the Antifada) and its regular guest hosts (Bex Dixon, Pareene, Brendan Sutton, Nomiki, Virgil Texas)

luckily I find the Antifada hosts too annoying to even want to keep up with it aside from Matt's history-focused guest eps

yeah i tried listening to it and it was basically like a bunch of high school kids saying, "Well we're COMMUNISTS"

I really enjoy liz's vocal fry but found true anon too obnoxious. I've listened to a couple other North American leftist podcasts here or there but nothing has ever stuck

Brett and Bryan from Street Fight are still the best of the pod-leftists but the shows aren’t focused enough for me to listen to regularly. Similarly, Sam Seder’s show is too much like listening to terrestrial radio but lefty.

Srsly Wrong is my favorite. Very smart, funny, and empathetic explorations of different concepts with a particular focus on libertarian socialism. They're funny without doing the whole "dirtbag thing". Not that I mind dirtbag stuff either.

the pareene one was ok, most of it was a very factual interview with an experts on pandemics and US health politics, with a brief and to me not interesting appearance from commentator-comedian walter shapiro talking abt biden

Yo can somebody just give me a quick definition of “jokerfied”? IDGAF about comic book culture but I started listening to CTH about 3 months ago and they won’t stop using this term. I feel like I should know what they’re on about and it’s driving me nuts.
