Yeah, I have no idea how they do it.

Nicosia?
― ShariVari, Monday, 16 March 2020 10:42 (four years ago) link
Actually that's a terrible guess. Limassol?
― ShariVari, Monday, 16 March 2020 10:46 (four years ago) link
I really wanted it to be Recife, but it is not Recife.
― American Fear of Pranksterism (Ed), Monday, 16 March 2020 11:03 (four years ago) link
It's probably not Limsassol either tbf.
Thought process is that the cars appear to be driving on the left, which suggest ex-British Empire or Japan, air con among other things means it's not the UK, none of the cars are white, which would be statistically unusual for Southern Africa, doesn't feel much like India to me so likely to be Malta, Cyprus, Sri Lanka or Japan, but not much of a clue beyond that possibly faulty logic.
― ShariVari, Monday, 16 March 2020 11:11 (four years ago) link
Cars are driving on the right

Damn it!

I really wanted it to be Santander, but I'm pretty sure it's not Santander.
― Tim, Monday, 16 March 2020 11:25 (four years ago) link
One of the cars might be a black and yellow taxi, which suggests spain, but also might be anywhere else.

I think the way the weather looks is seducing people, that housing block front left looks suspiciously Soviet to me and there's a minaret halfway up.

yeah I was thinking either danube or volga but nothing obvious coming up
― thomasintrouble, Tuesday, 17 March 2020 11:01 (four years ago) link
The importance of the river makes me think it's somewhere on the cruise circuit, and the only non-obvious candidate for the Volga is Nizhny Novgorod.

definitely Danube. Galati.

I would never guess any of these but I insist on making occasional offerings that amuse me so here’s this curiosity:

Hmmmm. I'm guessing some place with a big tourist investment in Swiss-chalet imagery. AFAIC there is no McDonald's in Helen, GA, but someplace like that maybe?

If you look very carefully inside one of the windows of the first house, you can just make out Joe Biden standing behind a curtain (if anyone was wondering where he had got to lately)

Is the previous one Reading PA and the most recent one Mexico City?
― I_Got_Loaded, Friday, 27 March 2020 13:42 (four years ago) link
Reading PA is an excellent guess, 9/10. Its more rural than Reading but only around an hour or so's drive from there.
The second one....you're in the right hemisphere, but its not Mexico
― cherry blossom, Friday, 27 March 2020 13:49 (four years ago) link
First very very closer but still not quite over the line
Second needs work to get closer

Viña del Mar?

I've never heard of Viña del Mar and had to google it! I'm not sure which thats a guess for, but its closest to the second one with the blue and yellow houses though still some ways off
― cherry blossom, Thursday, 9 April 2020 18:43 (four years ago) link
Oh I misunderstood your instructions. I thought all three were for one city, and I had a hell of a time trying to think of a city that would feature all three scenes. The topography in the third photo is reminiscent of Viña's hilly outskirts (where my mother lives!), and they have views of the Pacific. The first photo had a couple of compatible indicators.

― COVID and the Gang (jim in vancouver), Thursday, 9 April 2020 18:52 (four years ago) link
now I'm not haha
the second one is in Brazil?
― COVID and the Gang (jim in vancouver), Thursday, 9 April 2020 18:53 (four years ago) link
I'm gonna wager the second one is Lima, if only for the combination of apparent aridity combined with what looks like persistent cloud cover.
― never have i been a blue calm sea (collardio gelatinous), Thursday, 9 April 2020 19:06 (four years ago) link
#2 its not Lima but we're getting in the zone now
