housing construction and repair are considered essential businesses, and it's not like they are all up in people's faces. ... like Best Buy has been open all week. Yeah, sure it's all about providing people necessary equipment for working at home and homeschooling kids ...

This is maybe partially about my incredulity that the new owners would repaint what was already the most recently-painted building on the block.

yeah that's too bad. they made the decision last year though it appears. TBH I haven't been there in years; I think the last thing I saw there was the Notwist in 2003. OH wait I saw Wire there a couple of years ago. I have some nostalgia for the place since I saw american music club there about 50 times including what was their final show for a decade, and it was also one of the first venues I ever went to in SF (Robyn HItchcock in probably 88); but the sight lines were terrible and most of the bands they booked there over the past 15 years were not anyone I'd ever want to see.

I saw Dino Jr there a few months ago with my kid. They were very loud. Sat up in the balcony, thank god, since I'm old. Downstairs was PACKED.

Ah. Oh well. Yeah I havent been there in 20 years.

Saw a show there on the 9th, actually. Cult of Luna headlined a great triple bill. Had to have been one of their last. My ears were ringing for days even having had earplugs in.

Saw Magma there a couple of years ago, last show I saw was Built To Spill. Always had a good time at Slim's...

Last show I saw there was Seefeel in November. Not a bad way to see it out.

Ride, Slowdive, Saint Etienne, The La's, Primal Scream, MBV, Suede, Red House Painters and tons I already forgot about. I always hated those poles and the walk back to Market Street to catch the 7 bus. I won't miss it really.

Probably a long time ago, during 92 or around there. Sure think it was Slims.

Oh wow screamadelica tour!

Would have been amazing to see that tour in that small of a venue -- it was the Palladium in LA (the same show that's on the deluxe reissue).

Out of all those bands I mentioned, I think Suede was the best live, it really was amazing to see a band on their way up internationally in avenue like that.

Oh, I think I saw Suede on that tour at a similar size venue in Boston. 1993? One of my first shows when I moved to SF was Mr. T Experience at Slims.

The Magma show was soooooo good. I also saw the Teenage Jesus & the Jerks reunion show, and then, yeah, I saw Death Grips there ... Mike Patton accidentally (?) groped my friend's butt at that show.

According to friends they're handing out $500 tickets in SF for social distancing infractions.

Wire on the Red Barked Tree tour at Slim's was memorable. It was the last night of their tour, I figured they'd be phoning it in ... they did not.

Shame. I passed out in the crowd at a Liars show years ago and the staff and manager were very kind to me

My wife saw MBV there during the Loveless tour. That place does not have friendly acoustics for that kind of music.

Yeah that was a great set (VCN tour, last tour with Yamamotor). I caught the Boredoms playing Slims 4x: 94 w/ TFUL282 & then 02 (2 shows!).

I saw Afghan Whigs & Teenage Fanclub in 92 circa Congregation/Bandwagonesque. You'd think the place would've been packed but it was half-empty at the peak attendance.

Was interesting doing my (til now) usual Saturday morning shopping run at the Ferry Building and farmers' market there. Almost everything in the building itself is closed -- exceptions are Golden Gate Butcher, Acme Bread, El Porteno, Stonehouse Olive Oil, Frog Hollow, maybe one other thing and I'm pretty positive that was about it. Plus the fellow who sells biscuits at his stall near Peet's, but he says next week will be it for him anyway, he's switching to a separate stand-alone location -- terrible timing on the one hand, on the other, probably safer and more stable anyway! I'd say only about half the farmer's market stalls were there -- got what I needed but even though the BART ride there and back was safe enough (plenty of space, barely anyone on the cars), kinda glad the Mission market is scheduled to start next Thursday for the year. Between that, Bi-rite and my local spots, so long as the supply chains run I'll still have produce at least. But overall everything was just that little more quieter and strange this morning.

went for a bike ride today and part of me wished they were handing out citations - way too many people ignoring spacing. pedestrians, cyclists, everywhere. was really looking forward to getting up to Marin but given how people were behaving, didn't seem safe :(

of course there's no way to go grocery shopping and preserve spacing, which i do multiple times a week. and that's in an enclosed space. i dunno.
