I was blanking on the third too but then I reviewed my ballot, and the only question I have is order.

i don't know the order but all 3 have been mentioned itt already

they're all indie games if that helps

Sekiro and Death Stranding were both games my bf played a lot last year, I threw the latter some points but not the former, it just wasn't as fun to watch. I know some people weren't so keen on the idea of me voting for something I'd not actually been at the controls for, but I do feel like it was a considered choice based on experiencing the game and not breaking the rules of the poll. Apologies to those who are still annoyed by it, though.

i think watching someone play a video game is totally legit reason to vote for it and was basically my reason for voting for mario maker 2 fwiw and i sometimes feel like i'm inclined to gatekeep in other ways (like i'm a little skeptical of the gaminess of certain walking sims)

my decision tree:
if you can win, it's a game
if you can lose, it's a game
if you wasd, it's a game
if you're playing pretend, it's a slightly weird game

If you can honk, it's a game.

if you can honk it might be goty

Thanks Mordy. I guess I have a bit of self-doubt caused by slippery slope arguments, like, would you watch a Let's Play video and still vote for the game? That seems dubious to me.

walking sims are definitely games, visual novels are the frontier where things get messy

i never finished this but what a cool and ambitious thing it is for an indie game

I was VERY concerned about playing this, because games in first-person give me bad motion sickness, and then this game also has some zero-g navigation. But it never became an issue for me!

Furthermore, I'm not a big fan of puzzle games, and for the endgame I had to look up guides and walkthroughs, but for a lot of it I managed to figure out most of the solutions.

Ha wow given how many points I would have awarded death stranding my dumb non-voting actually really changed these results.

i am greatly looking forward to playing this game

definitely the most impressive exploration/puzzle game to me since the witness

unless hypnospace outlaw counts as an exploration game which i guess it kinda does

ppl are very cagey about what this game even is, so I have no idea what it is!

I was concerned that Outer Wilds might have permadeath, but it doesn't really.

i think the reason people are cagey is because the more you explain, the less you are surprised by it. i'll say this: it's a non-combat, walking/space-flying simulator where you have to figure out why a big tragedy is going to happen, and you get lots of tries to do so

it's kind without being cloying, its meditative without being boring, it's perplexing without being alienating, it just rules

Untitled Goose Game: I understand the feelings of those let down by it, but I enjoyed my time with it. Maybe slightly less than I expected, but it was a joyful time with only a few deranged and unnecessary annoyances.

I gave 30 points to Baba Is You. I'm so mad at this game right now. It's a good video game.

WHEN I JOINED GAME PASS IT WAS FOR THIS OUTER WILDS BUT I ACCIDENTALLY PLAYED OUTER WORLDS

IF IT'S ON THERE NOW THIS IS THE ULTIMATE INSULT

(important note about playing on PC: there is a certain part of the game where analog control helps quite a bit, you may not wanna kbm this game -- plug in a controller)
