i feel like it's closer to their mellon collie in spirit, i get the adore comparison because of the dual electronics/folk directions they pushed in but adore still manages to be much more singular in vibe while mellon collie is the real stylistic grab bag

i keep waiting for "what should i say" to get corny the more i play it but instead i'm becoming convinced it's one of the greatest songs i've ever heard

I love this album but no amount of resequencing could make this album less messy, should have ended with "Don't Worry" which of course has wrecked me

i maintain the sequencing could have at least been less jarring. "don't worry" into "guys" is a perfect way to close the album though

I am only up to "Tonight" but I already like this more than the last album, which I did like but not as much as the first two albums and mostly for the singles. I'm really impressed by the breadth but more importantly the consistency of the album tracks so far, many as strong as what's been released. it'll take a few listens to really unpack this though, given the variety and number of tracks

"somebody else" is lydian i think? but i'm no expert

I'm not that great with theory either but I think whether it's a major key, minor key, or Lydian mode just depends on what you think the tonic is

I listened to the singles on the last album too much before the album released and so didn't ever really come appreciate that album beyond the singles; so this time I resolved to listen to the album only come release date. all I want to say for now is that "If You're Too Shy" is excellent & the verses sound like a sped-up version of "Run Like Hell" by PINK FLOYD RULES

i listened to one guided by voices album like 10 years ago but "then because she goes" reminds me of them for some reason. just like this short burst of a song. it's gorgeous. also i personally think the sequencing on this is amazing lol

I can't imagine listening to most of this often but it's definitely impressive, they're reaaaally good stylistic mimics. I love pretty much all of the UK garage-y tracks.

'What Should I Say' feels like it was written right after hearing Kanye's 'Fade'.

'Me & You Together Song' is both fascinating & repellent as a pastiche (of what exactly, Oasis and certain '90s corporate alt-pop?), with that over-swung rhythm feel that's really gross.
