Voted tart but then realized that tart and quiche are the same thing.

Quiche is an egg tart except when it’s sweet in which case it’s a flan or a custard tart.

I think we need to establish a Linnaean binomial classification system for baked goods.

I think I’m reality though Pizza is not another thing it is Pizza, it’s own genus if you will with lots of subspecies.
Think of a Victorian naturalist coming upon deep dish in the wild for the first time, would they classify it as one of the pizzas or one of the quiches on first viewing maybe on dissection it would get lumped with the lasagnas or mousakas?

it's pie, the other thread was wrong because britishers have no idea what they're talking about & probably call pizza "cheese wumbly" anyway... it's fruit in a crust adorned with a crumbled topping and baked. the most cut and dry thing ever.

I could see pie as an option because it's a beloved reference. pizza dough is unlike any of the options presented here though, it's its own thing

Stern food of the Daughter of God!pizza is a thing of rags and patches,of ballads, songs, and snatches, and dreamy lullabies, of snips and snails and puppy dog tails.and sugar and spice and everything nice. It's a pocketful of miracles,a man, a plan, a canal! It's the stuff dreams are made of.

this is the point where i was like WUT bc that is a quiche
Do not confuse a classic cheese and onion flan with a quiche. While this baked egg recipe may resemble the traditional French dish, the flan is made differently and tastes different. It is the traditional British version of the ubiquitous quiche and, for many Brits, is the stuff of memories. Those memories being school lunches, summer lunches, afternoon tea, and dinners with the flan served alongside a salad and often boiled new potatoes.
also lol: made differently and tastes different

looks like a quiche to me
the generic UK meaning of "flan" is "an open sweet or savoury tart", any kind of custard isn't the defining feature
