had managed to completely forget that mou was still spurs manager, feels like he had been and gone already.

― oscar bravo, Thursday, June 11, 2020 3:57 PM (yesterday) bookmarkflaglink

literally thought exactly the same thing yesterday

Somewhere a poor Spurs fans is waking to that crushing disappointment.

Subverted by buggery (Tom D.), Friday, 12 June 2020 07:28 (three years ago) link

The interrupted timeline will mess up the Third Season Meltdown scenario for sure, or has he brought that one forward already? I forget.

so what has been the televised decision on these games now then?

The other 6 matchdays haven’t been arranged yet I don’t think

crisp, Friday, 12 June 2020 08:43 (three years ago) link

If you don't have any subscriptions, these are the ones Sky are showing for free on Pick (Freeview ch 11):

https://www.live-footballontv.com/live-football-on-pick.html

Two games (Bournemouth-Palace, Norwich-Everton (hopefully an early goal from Pat van den Hauwe there to settle the nerves)) also on BBC.

Michael Jones, Friday, 12 June 2020 11:00 (three years ago) link

really spoiling us with the cream of the fixtures there

comparing me to Harold Shipman is unfair (Noodle Vague), Friday, 12 June 2020 11:04 (three years ago) link

I think it's over a decade since I watched a Merseyside derby live (Cup replay, 2009, when ITV failed to broadcast the goal). They're absolutely excruciating, and I try to ignore that they're happening. But I might...watch this? Maybe? The weirdness will offset the horror.

Michael Jones, Friday, 12 June 2020 11:09 (three years ago) link

that's one of the "Liverpool might secure the title" fixtures i think? i'd skip it :D

comparing me to Harold Shipman is unfair (Noodle Vague), Friday, 12 June 2020 11:14 (three years ago) link

What are they gonna do? Take a lap of honour? Live-stream from a bus depot, greenscreen of Utting Avenue rolling past?

Michael Jones, Friday, 12 June 2020 11:31 (three years ago) link

the latter is an excellent idea and must happen

comparing me to Harold Shipman is unfair (Noodle Vague), Friday, 12 June 2020 11:34 (three years ago) link

Zoom celebrations

As you were lads

Harry Kane was among four players who returned to the Tottenham side as they lost to bottom club Norwich in a friendly on Friday

beautifully rambling and on point letter from Rashford here, so not all footballers are complete cunts - just about 99% of them!

calzino, Sunday, 14 June 2020 23:25 (three years ago) link

Would seem to me that the vast majority of footballers are not cunts, but that Britain's right-wing media and Conservative government has been happy to portray them as such and it has proved very effective in propagating that idea.

Wolves have been touted as a possible destination for Porto winger Jesus Corona.

Here we go.

ShariVari, Wednesday, 17 June 2020 17:02 (three years ago) link

Ah shite

Dadjokke (Sgt. Biscuits), Wednesday, 17 June 2020 17:02 (three years ago) link

All 22 players take a knee before kickoff.

ShariVari, Wednesday, 17 June 2020 17:03 (three years ago) link

Someone just pressed the ‘celebrate goal’ fake crowd noise, which had me running back from the kitchen unnecessarily.

ShariVari, Wednesday, 17 June 2020 17:10 (three years ago) link

hi everyone

𝔠𝔞𝔢𝔨 (caek), Wednesday, 17 June 2020 17:15 (three years ago) link

Come on Villa, Champions League of Rona places at stake here

Ivan Scampo (Noodle Vague), Wednesday, 17 June 2020 17:32 (three years ago) link

That looked like it was over the line.

ShariVari, Wednesday, 17 June 2020 17:45 (three years ago) link

That’s extraordinary.

ShariVari, Wednesday, 17 June 2020 17:46 (three years ago) link

Dear me, first game back, how does that happen?

or something, Wednesday, 17 June 2020 17:47 (three years ago) link

They forgot to switch it back on

Dadjokke (Sgt. Biscuits), Wednesday, 17 June 2020 17:47 (three years ago) link

Goal line tech otm

Ivan Scampo (Noodle Vague), Wednesday, 17 June 2020 17:49 (three years ago) link

I'd prefer a cocktail bar background murmur than fake crowd noise tbh

bring wayne shorter to the slaughter (Matt #2), Wednesday, 17 June 2020 17:55 (three years ago) link

‘System now working’ suggests it’s possible they literally just hadn’t turned it on.

ShariVari, Wednesday, 17 June 2020 18:05 (three years ago) link

IT FLASHED UP GOAL AT HALF TIME HAHAHA

Dadjokke (Sgt. Biscuits), Wednesday, 17 June 2020 18:06 (three years ago) link

I hope someone remembered to press the "fuck off ref" crowd noise button when the goal didn't stand.

Matt DC, Wednesday, 17 June 2020 18:11 (three years ago) link

People arguing about VAR. The world is normal again.

Ste, Wednesday, 17 June 2020 18:24 (three years ago) link

think we're gonna see a lot more shirt tugging in the box without opposing fans and var to an extent calling it out

nxd, Wednesday, 17 June 2020 18:25 (three years ago) link

So glad it's back lol

Le Bateau Ivre, Wednesday, 17 June 2020 18:51 (three years ago) link

Something very right about the first game back being 0-0.

Vanishing Point (Chinaski), Wednesday, 17 June 2020 19:20 (three years ago) link

Absolutely hilarious that Mustafi is playing today.

Got to say the fake crowd noise makes a huge difference and I'm glad it's there.

de bruyne managing to make football with no crowd noise exciting somehow.

oscar bravo, Wednesday, 17 June 2020 20:01 (three years ago) link

Lads.

Matt DC, Wednesday, 17 June 2020 20:28 (three years ago) link

I didn't like the fake crowd noise. I found it quite unsettling.

paolo, Thursday, 18 June 2020 08:41 (three years ago) link

And the Sky Sports anti-racism message felt just a tad cynical considering Murdoch also owns the fucking Sun

paolo, Thursday, 18 June 2020 08:43 (three years ago) link

Murdoch hasn't owned Sky for over a year now

( X '____' )/ (zappi), Thursday, 18 June 2020 09:18 (three years ago) link

Well I'll be darned

paolo, Thursday, 18 June 2020 09:45 (three years ago) link

Sarah Vine seems to think BLM on the shirts is the first time football crowds have been subjected to political propaganda, despite about 18000 minute's silences for our boys and fucking giant poppies and soldiers on the pitch becoming completely routine in the last couple of decades.
