she's like the bill hicks of drag at this point

here 1st (roxymuzak), Monday, 13 July 2020 18:22 (three years ago) link

Miz was good with the TMZ scene, tho Juju still ran circles around her in bringing the funny.

Get the point? Good, let's dance with nunchaku. (Eric H.), Monday, 13 July 2020 18:24 (three years ago) link

Cracker is funnier on Youtube, though she's been noticeably absent from it for the AS5 run.

AxoLOLtl (Leee), Monday, 13 July 2020 18:37 (three years ago) link

i have no clue about the whole India vs Alexis drama except that I think that the truth is somewhere in the middle

also i am tired of it already lol

terminators of endearment (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 13 July 2020 18:59 (three years ago) link

cracker is funny in the way that you likely have a friend who is a laff riot when you're at dinner or drinks or w/e but it's not like they're planning on becoming a professional comedian anytime soon

clouds, Monday, 13 July 2020 20:29 (three years ago) link

India you're a liar, and this is why Derrick don't like you.

It was after I voted.

LeRooLeRoo, Tuesday, 14 July 2020 13:45 (three years ago) link

Oh yeah seeing all the truth tea about how it was post-vote removes any shred of possibility that this wasn’t completely disingenuous and dishonest. What an asshole.

vision joanna newsom (Stevie D(eux)), Tuesday, 14 July 2020 23:44 (three years ago) link

And for WHAT?? Like surely in your heart of hearts you must know that after 4x in the bottom, you’re not going to win, so why would you pull such a desperate hail-mary to stay if it’s going to fracture a working relationship/friendship??

Like I really did want to believe this was India being like “hey I know I’m going home, so just between us girls, blah blah blah” but now that no longer makes sense

vision joanna newsom (Stevie D(eux)), Tuesday, 14 July 2020 23:48 (three years ago) link

India is the worst

Meanwhile there was also this from the other day

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 15 July 2020 01:12 (three years ago) link

Maybe she's hoping that her messiness makes her "the bitch you love to hate" which gets her invited back? Although that sort of person is always "the bitch who makes me sorry to see her taking up a space", but I don't cast reality TV series, so what do I know?

trishyb, Wednesday, 15 July 2020 09:19 (three years ago) link

Don’t get me wrong.

I love Reba McIntyre, and I LOVE “Fancy”

But they chose THAT song
For THAT assassin? Or maybe it was chosen before the assassin was idk

But that was a real non starter of a lipsync and a waste of a song because they couldnt do anything with it! neither of them are that kind of performer.

That’s a Sasha Velour or Latrice or Chad Michaels track. DRAMA. Not dancin.

terminators of endearment (VegemiteGrrl), Saturday, 18 July 2020 19:18 (three years ago) link

Plus Kennedy did not know the words.

Oh god, why do I dislike Cracker so much? If she wins, I swear to God I will tear this place down with my bare hands, you watch me.

trishyb, Saturday, 18 July 2020 20:21 (three years ago) link

Still putting all my hopes on Shea or Juju

Plus it looks like the singing/dance challenge so its Shea’s to lose

Also: REUNION! :D

terminators of endearment (VegemiteGrrl), Saturday, 18 July 2020 20:34 (three years ago) link

Yeah that was a...weird lipsync, to put it mildly.

Surely Shea's to lose.

Ned Raggett, Saturday, 18 July 2020 20:50 (three years ago) link

lol Blair going hard for deluded Valentina vibes, she is so far from reality

what did she say, something like how winning allstars isnt based on winning?

and how the problem w her standup was that her nails made it hard to turn the pages of her not book

*in skywriting over the studio*
BITCH! PLEASE!

i am glad she’s gone. she should have been kicked off ages ago.

terminators of endearment (VegemiteGrrl), Saturday, 18 July 2020 21:27 (three years ago) link

that lipsynch was dreadful, and especially as the one happening on this week's Canada Drag Race was spectacular (even if the episode of CDR itself was otherwise rubbish)

boxedjoy, Saturday, 18 July 2020 21:56 (three years ago) link

Yeah, they really pushed the "there are 29,000 words to this song" angle in Untucked but that was a pretty low energy final (?) lip sync for the season.

Get the point? Good, let's dance with nunchaku. (Eric H.), Saturday, 18 July 2020 22:58 (three years ago) link

lmao what an absurd song to pick for a lip sync

watching Blair post-judging was unbearable bcz it's someone who is clawing in desperation against the fully inevitable, they know it's inevitable, they know they can't change it, they're just kinda panicking

vision joanna newsom (Stevie D(eux)), Monday, 20 July 2020 15:49 (three years ago) link

especially as the one happening on this week's Canada Drag Race was spectacular

Yes, forgot to mention that earlier, it was prime stuff.

Ned Raggett, Monday, 20 July 2020 16:58 (three years ago) link

Willam's last two recap eps on the Race Chaser pod have been ... testy. Delightfully testy, but testy for sure.

Get the point? Good, let's dance with nunchaku. (Eric H.), Wednesday, 22 July 2020 18:06 (three years ago) link

Rather!

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 22 July 2020 18:15 (three years ago) link

new uhhhHHHHHhh ft trixie and katya coming august 5, hopefully captures some of the old magic

Give me a Chad Smith-type feel (map), Wednesday, 22 July 2020 18:19 (three years ago) link

Both are also equally perplexed by the LYFYL song choice this week too. (Willam: "World of Wonder should issue an apology for wasting the talents and the time of Miss Kennedy Davenport! This is like Nina West to do a wet T-shirt contest! Wrong queen!")

Get the point? Good, let's dance with nunchaku. (Eric H.), Wednesday, 22 July 2020 18:20 (three years ago) link

And they were right about it all.

Canada's Drag Race settling into a good groove. Crazy/ridiculous drama, a good design challenge, stuff and things! The personalities and approaches are all coming clearer too -- and Snatch Game next week!

Ned Raggett, Friday, 24 July 2020 03:00 (three years ago) link

Yay the right queen won yay!

Ned Raggett, Saturday, 25 July 2020 04:31 (three years ago) link

Anyway so we’re getting another series only they’re going full reality TV for the Vegas revue? Definitely a different full-on VH1 tone than the Werq the World documentaries, and I’m not sure it’ll work but we’ll see...

Ned Raggett, Saturday, 25 July 2020 04:39 (three years ago) link

a good finale but not like, super memorable

glad the winner won bc i love her forever

terminators of endearment (VegemiteGrrl), Saturday, 25 July 2020 05:33 (three years ago) link

I truly wish the tie hadn’t gotten used up last season. That was an absolutely deserved winner but at this point I wanted a crown for a particular one of the other two too.

Get the point? Good, let's dance with nunchaku. (Eric H.), Sunday, 26 July 2020 00:55 (three years ago) link

Juju’s runway look was UHMAZING

terminators of endearment (VegemiteGrrl), Sunday, 26 July 2020 00:58 (three years ago) link

Yeah that was beyond next level. Maybe just a crown via popular acclaim?

Ned Raggett, Sunday, 26 July 2020 01:03 (three years ago) link

I'd love to see Juju and Shea do something together. They have really good chemistry and seem genuinely kind and interested in other people. Plus Juju is one of the funniest queens they've ever had.

I teared up when Shea talked about her dad and how proud he would be of his son.

trishyb, Sunday, 26 July 2020 08:36 (three years ago) link

always my fav moment of the season:

Get the point? Good, let's dance with nunchaku. (Eric H.), Tuesday, 28 July 2020 02:15 (three years ago) link

Yeah you can see her heart breaking for a second before she starts clapping.

LeRooLeRoo, Tuesday, 28 July 2020 13:24 (three years ago) link

Canada version is really difficult for me - the contestants are all exciting in different ways and the runways have been incredible. But the judging has been a disaster. I've got a lot of goodwill for Stacey but she isn't doing much and JBC is actively unlikable, while Brooke's unease is palpable and all their collective decisions have been... questionable.

Really happy with the AS5 winner though!

boxedjoy, Thursday, 30 July 2020 08:00 (three years ago) link

Yeah it's kinda clear not having a real central judge personality for the Canada version is an issue. I can understand Ru not wanting to do more on top of everything else but still. The contestants do make it, though.

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 30 July 2020 14:38 (three years ago) link

Anyway I have to salute tonight's episode of CDR for the lip sync and for introducing me to this:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dildo,_Newfoundland_and_Labrador

Ned Raggett, Friday, 31 July 2020 03:35 (three years ago) link

Also to Mary Walsh, who was probably the best guest judge so far. Snatch Game was often very good but nobody impersonated a Canadian!

Ned Raggett, Friday, 31 July 2020 03:37 (three years ago) link

I wish someone had done kd Lang or maybe even Grimes. Or Moira Rose.

LeRooLeRoo, Friday, 31 July 2020 04:10 (three years ago) link

But although I had no idea who JoJo is, I thought Lemon killed it and would have won if her Céline hadn't sucked so bad.

LeRooLeRoo, Friday, 31 July 2020 13:03 (three years ago) link

JoJo is her own universe.

Ned Raggett, Friday, 31 July 2020 14:35 (three years ago) link

Brooke's unease is palpable and all their collective decisions have been... questionable.

Brooke needs to lean into the "those who can't... judge" instead of appearing vaguely apologetic about it all the time.

Lemon is the spit of Andrew Rannells.

trishyb, Monday, 3 August 2020 09:41 (three years ago) link

New episode from Canada tonight, but also there's this:

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 6 August 2020 21:00 (three years ago) link

Last night's Canada episode was pretty good in general but yeah, the judging's getting weirder/worse? Can they just give it to Stacy to handle, maybe?

Next week's the makeover challenge and this is a very interesting thing to learn!

Next week on Canada’s Drag Race!

We are so excited to announce that several newcomers we assisted to safety will participate in the iconic Makeover Challenge on next week's episode of Canada's Drag Race!

I'm so devastated. She was incredibly sweet when I chatted with her out of drag on a street in Toronto after Season 8. A great queen and a great soul gone way too soon. RIP.
