76ers vibes are all wrong

Brad Stevens looks like he was a 4-year college player at a mid-major who is now getting his Masters at the school and is an unpaid assistant for his former coach.

Robert Williams being good could change everything for the Celtics

Brett Brown looks like he’s in Cabo and doesn’t know where his wife is but it’s not a big deal

been saying this

lag∞n, Tuesday, 18 August 2020 01:07 (three years ago) link

embiid was gassed after the first quarter

lag∞n, Tuesday, 18 August 2020 01:08 (three years ago) link

they did a good job mixing up defenses on embiid later in the game...brought some late doubles and turned him over.

kanter played well, i would consider getting him more minutes. theis will always try his best but this is just not his series. if i were him i'd just be looking at my direct deposit statements after every game because he has the worst job in basketball right now.

tatum and brown were great, obv brown's availability going forward is important. kemba did an amazing job of settling things down, drawing some fouls, and playing under control down the stretch.

the sixers are really easy to stop outside of embiid isos.

feel like philly was in that game via the make and miss phenomenon more than anything

lag∞n, Tuesday, 18 August 2020 01:22 (three years ago) link

yeah they shot a lot better than the celtics

ciderpress, Tuesday, 18 August 2020 01:24 (three years ago) link

3-pt percentage for both teams ended up in a similar place. the celtics had a bad cold stretch at the end of the 3rd on some good looks.

you know who sucked in this game, tobias harris sucked.

50% of the time he is nearly all-start level, 50% of the time he is nearly invisible.

Clay, Tuesday, 18 August 2020 03:45 (three years ago) link

its weird that betting the line which is not aligned with the outcome of the game is standard instead of the odds which is

lag∞n, Tuesday, 18 August 2020 03:47 (three years ago) link

rip mavs see you next year

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 18 August 2020 04:00 (three years ago) link

betting the line which is not aligned with the outcome of the game is standard instead of the odds which is

I'm not a bettor or a bookie, so this interpretation is based on the logic of an external observer: there are plenty of NBA games where picking the winner is relatively simple and the more games you bet, the more the upsets can get lost in the generally favorable odds of picking the winner 90% of the time.

otoh, betting the line removes the simple element of deciding which team is most likely to win and introduces more variance. Bookies like variance because it allows them to balance the bets placed on either side and gives them more predictable profits, and betters like variance since it gives them the illusion of placing the 'smart' money that outwits the odds makers and collects a bigger payday than merely betting that the Raptors will beat the Hornets. Hey, maybe the Hornets will play the Raptors close enough to beat the line tonight.

Not saying this to disagree or criticize but the fact that he had 15/8/8 and everyone thinks he sucked is very Tobias Harris. He just never is appreciated wherever he goes

Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 18 August 2020 12:21 (three years ago) link

I really enjoyed Grant Williams’ 2 minute stint where he looked like a teetotaling rodman

Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 18 August 2020 12:23 (three years ago) link

lol

lag∞n, Tuesday, 18 August 2020 12:25 (three years ago) link

tobias being paid like someone who should be putting up 25-8-8 and not 15-8-8... the salary part isn’t his fault i guess but he‘s always kinda left something to be desired and it’s magnified now (having been kept by the sixers instead of jimmy butler, simmons being out)
