Indeed. Unrelated, but I love seeing guys get a save by closing out a game with a 17 run lead. And wasn't there a save awarded in Atlanta's 29-run game too?
― NoTimeBeforeTime, Saturday, 12 September 2020 12:01 (three years ago) link
saves have to be a 3 run lead or less, i think
― Karl Malone, Saturday, 12 September 2020 19:09 (three years ago) link
oh wait, there are other ways to get a save:
A relief pitcher recording a save must preserve his team's lead while doing one of the following: Enter the game with a lead of no more than three runs and pitch at least one inning. Enter the game with the tying run in the on-deck circle, at the plate or on the bases. Pitch at least three innings.
always forget about the "pitch at least 3 innings" version of the save

Mets announce agreement to sell club to Steve Cohen. According to Sportico, Cohen will own 95 percent of the team, with the Katz and Wilpon families retaining the other 5 percent. Heard the #Mets sold for more than the $2.35B that has been reported. It is for between $2.4B and $2.45B. The previous record for a North American sports team was the $2.275B that the Panthers were sold for to another hedge fund billionaire, David Tepper.— Joel Sherman (@Joelsherman1) September 14, 2020

difference between $2.35B and $2.45B, alone, is $100M.
that's enough to pay each mets minor leaguer $66,666.66 per year for five years (assuming they have 300 minor leaguers).

The Mets will make the playoffs if:-They win all three of their remaining gamesAND-The Giants lose both of theirsAND-The Phillies lose both of theirsAND-The Brewers lose at least one of theirsEstimated chance of all that happening, per Fangraphs: 1.1 percent.— Anthony DiComo (@AnthonyDiComo) September 26, 2020

i'll take at least one of those things out of the equation: the cardinals WILL defeat the milwaukee brewers at least one more time this regular season
phillies suck, so they'll lose both of theirs
not sure about the giants, though. are they still trying?

They say there is a lot of pressure in New York," he said. "It's a big market, there are lot of people on top of you. But I'm blessed to play the game. I'm Francisco Lindor. I'm going to do me, and hopefully people like that. Hopefully people embrace me. I'll embrace them."Mets fans shouldn't have any problem doing that for the player nicknamed Mr. Smile. When asked about the first thing he'll do when he gets to New York, Lindor smiled and said, "I love pizza, so I'll probably eat some pizza."

Thank goodness. Wilpons would have demoted him for two weeks, waited for a firestorm, then fired him.
It still doesn't say much about the Mets' vetting process. While this story might have been kept confidential by ESPN for the last 4 years, I find it hard to believe this is the only woman he has done this to and that this wasn't known to others.
