Just looked at this user's posts and... they don't seem notably left wing to me. I am an actual communist, mind you, maybe my standards are different.

Anyway, I've just seen the other thread too, checked out the context and conferred with WmC - I'm in favour of shortening it to a normal length temp ban rather than a permaban. I'm definitely lobbying stet to remove "permanently" from the admin log wording, though, this comes up every time.

ok, sounds good. i'm not terribly super informed about this case and i definitely don't want to jump to conclusions. i only say what i do because i have seen boards where there _is_ a hostile relationship between the socialist posters and the mods, and a lot of that is down to actions which are justified and proper taken individually.

I had a look at B,M's posting history after spotting this, and it seemed fairly innocuous... so suggested to me this post was just a poorly formed 'joke' and not e.g. that they were some edgelord

This was all hashed out and changed to a temp ban yesterday.

I want to deeply apologize. It was a serious question, but barfed out without any thought. I’m a long time lurker and only registered in order to finally participate in discussion.

Partially, I had worried that easy access to posting would result in me doing something thoughtless like that. In my defense I have paid attention long enough that I would never have responded like that to someone who has shared their experience of suicidal ideation, and as far as I can tell, Aimless has not had publicly shared experiences. Karl, I think it'd be good form to warn about what's under the hidden text marker, and also consider if your NSFW image is really necessary. Personally I'd prefer an external link to NSFW images with an explanation of what you'll see if you click on it. To answer your actual question, though, I'm not sure if the thread would need a NSFW marker or not if you hide the image, I'd probably keep it there as a content warning but I'm not completely sure it'd be warranted.
