I don't know anything about the Game Pass thing but I do see an awful lot of comments on Steam complaining about the 'innnovative' download/installation system that they've used.

steam users are absolute bitches about everything though

having the download occur within the game means that the 5 hours of downloading counts towards your steam playtime which means you can't use the steam refund system on it since you've "played" it for more than 2 hours even if you haven't played it, any time this happens steam users get very mad

As a general Twitch agnostic this is maybe the first example of a game where I absolutely can believe that I’m getting just as much enjoyment from watching people online play this as I would if I was playing it myself.

yeah i'm not sure this would be any more fun playing vs just watching youtubes/streams. pretty amazing, i bet the mods in years to come will be incredible

I'm very tempted by this but echoing what you're all saying in that it seems perfectly acceptable to just watch other people play this instead. If it was less than 30 quid maybe.

It is on PC Game Pass if you just want to give it a spin.

I calculated I'd need to spend min $500 to upgrade my PC to the point where this is playable. But the "under the hood" advances in modelling atmospheric convection and turbulence are pretty amazing.
My understanding is that MS plan near monthly DLC with new planes/airports/game modes. Sign me up for whenever the glider and aerial firefighter DLCs drop.

I watched a video and the plane happened to be flying over Asheville, NC, my former home. There were buildings where there are indeed buildings, but the buildings had no character and were all a single story high, even in downtown. Kinda disappointing given all I've heard. Major cities, however, are all 3D mapped and basically spot on.
