ominous looking and disused Eastern European train station?

I'm struck by how it's all very clean, with no litter or visible graffiti.
There's some characters/a logo on the modern building in the background on the right hand side of the last photo, but I'm not sure what to make of them - are they Japanese maybe?
Definitely wondering about Asia, but struggling to guess a country even.
― brain (krakow), Friday, 21 August 2020 17:44 (three years ago) link
In the first photo there's a motorway-esque road in the background with green gantry signs, if anyone knows which countries use that colour for those.
There also looks like what could be two flags on the right in front of the road, but sadly no wind to display them. Looks like they might be white and red, maybe blue too? My brain keeps filling them in as British flags, but that seems like nonsense.

ah, interesting. seem to be characters that are either not roman (nor Cyrillic) or if they are perhaps with diacritics not usually found in European languages

Those look like US green highway signs in the first picture and honestly everything about this looks like a desolate NJ Transit station except the wooden slats on the train tracks

The shape of the buildings feels like New Jersey but that obelisky thing in the first picture is making me consider Massachusetts.

Lots of clues (poverty, light skin-tones, ex-communist-style architecture) that indicate the poorer parts of Europe or west/central Asia. The most intriguing clue is how flat the landscape is, so most of the Balkans are out. Looks more like the steppes than a littoral, since it is so bereft of vegetation.

I would have accepted Plovdiv given thats the city, but if we're down to neighbourhood level then Stolipinovo is a gold star answer!

that's impressive! because of this i found a documentary about stolipinovo on youtube that i will save to watch later.

― Temporary Erogenous Zone (jim in vancouver), Tuesday, 25 August 2020 18:35 (three years ago) link
i think the roofs are too steep (they're designed for snow) and too red (they're slate in the UK).
― 𝔠𝔞𝔢𝔨 (caek), Tuesday, 25 August 2020 18:41 (three years ago) link
I spent ages thinking it was somewhere in the UK too - the neoclassical pile towards the right hand side of the Jul 27 pic, but (as Caek said) I'd be amazed if those roofs were in the UK. That little two-spired church spotted by FGTI (visible between the two left-most tree trunks on the Jul 27 pic, I reckon it's probably too small to be the town cathedral?) makes me think Germany or nearby.
"Germany or nearby" too big. I am left with absolutely no clue where it might be.
― Tim, Wednesday, 26 August 2020 10:09 (three years ago) link
Could it be Stuttgart? That church could be the St. Maria Kirche?
― Tim, Wednesday, 26 August 2020 10:22 (three years ago) link
what are those buildings (or is it one complex?) with those two minaret-like chimneys or whatever they are in the centre of yesterday's pic? is it something industrial?
(there's a church somewhat to the left of it/them that looks Central European to me)
― No mean feat. DaBaby (breastcrawl), Wednesday, 26 August 2020 10:38 (three years ago) link
I put Stuttgart Factory chimneys into google image search and got these, from yer actual kraftwerk (Heizkraftwerk Stuttgart-Gaisburg in this case) and they could be the same? The complex slightly behind them in yesterday's pic could be the Mercedes plant / museum.

which might mean that church, if we're looking at the same one, is the Evangelisches Pfarramt Gaisburg:
