That page is the rabbit hole I've been down for a chunk of today. Comparing the morphology of figure 1s was a particular high point.

I've seen some pretty intense guides that serious geoguessr players have written up regarding road signs, road markings, bollard types, crash barrier styles, distance markers etc etc etc that could be very useful too, but sadly don't have any links saved.

Whitley Bay?

Its not Whitley Bay! Too early to be giving any more hints other than what can be determined in the picture itself though!

I have picked up nothing worth having, past being fairly certain this is in the UK somewhere (I mean, if you told me it was Ireland I wouldn't be utterly amazed) (I suppose this goes for all the little islands as well but you know what I mean). Doesn't look rocky enough for Cornwall. I'd expect more red stone if it was Devon. It might be the power of NV's suggestion but somewhere on the east coast seems a fair guess.

I can't even work out what that tower is supposed to be: a windmill that's had a chimney built on to it?

i'd swear it's UK or Ireland and the bungalows look more UK to me

church seems to have a buttress on it so reasonably old, i feel like the round tower with the conical roof must be the big clue but i've no idea what it is

Tim's suggestion that it's an old windmill seems plausible. It's looks more like that than an old defensive tower to me.

Trying to make out the station sign on the far left but it's no easy task. The last few letters could be CIA or CLE, something like that.

Seascale in Cumbria?

Can't be that many small UK towns with rail lines running along the coast. I mean, too many for me to be bothered to check them all out, but still...

it makes me think of all those little towns on that line along the south coast between hove and portsmouth, landscape and buildings look wrong though. this does not look like a resort.

the east coast main line hugs the coast north of newcastle and up beyond dundee.

Seascale! After looking at lots of pictures of railway stations on the Exe and Thames estuaries, many of which were could-be-nearly-maybe it's such a pleasure to be told the right answer.

That was fun. Tough ones are good. or something, is it somewhere you know? How did you get it in the end?

I used the Ordnance Survey app on my tablet and followed the coast for any likely looking train stations. Found one with a row of houses at a right angle to the station and sea and then spotted the tower. I'm from the north west of england and do have a friend who lived there for a short while tho, it's close to Sellafield power station

Good one. I did something similar, but convinced myself the dark bank of cloud on the second photo was the opposite bank of an estuary - hilariously that meant I had a look around Morecambe Bay and drifted up as far north as Kirkby-in-Furness but then gave up. So close!

Bravo! ended up being as good as the Hartford one

I'd thought the rail line/station might have been spotted in the first image but it was probably just that bit too far away

NV, I feel like Lubeck doesn't have that proportion of green roofs, and there are A LOT more churches along the water if my memory serves.

My mom was born in a DMZ there so there's also that.

NV my immediate thought was Lubeck, too, so I get it.

Those green roofs made me think of Kyiv but (unless this is a weird view) Kyiv’s got to be more built up than that so... I’m way past the end of my knowledge. Somewhere post-Soviet would be my guess.
