Ill-Shore, perhaps?

I say "elixir", exactly, always, it's the most appealing collection of phonemes that the world implies and the homophone is nice
FUXXOR
"fucks 'er", but I never say this word

― flamboyant goon tie included, Thursday, 17 September 2020 15:38 (three years ago) link
The first is about right but it's very truncated (in light of how few letters there are). I say it fast and mostly eliminate the gap between the ell and the ex. The O is also somewhat exaggerated.
So perhaps it's more like I'll/exOr or IlexOR.

The right answer here is ilksor. It'd be different if it was just eye-ell-ex, but since it's not, it's ilksor.
I prefer the guillotine btw.

oh yes, and Old Lunch gives a beautiful example of the pin/pen merger in Southern English:

it's ilksor

(the pin/pen merger is supposed to be just before nasal consonants but I don't see why it can't precede a liquid)
― avellano medio inglés (f. hazel), Thursday, 17 September 2020 16:12 (three years ago) link
I think option 1 in the link has the last syllable wrong. It's "or," not "er."
I ell ex ore. Not I ell ex er.
― velcro-magnon (Ye Mad Puffin), Thursday, 17 September 2020 16:17 (three years ago) link
The option was discussing the noun as in “fellow ilxor”, fwiw.
― scampo italiano (gyac), Thursday, 17 September 2020 16:20 (three years ago) link
To protect the trademark ILX should always be used as an adjective, like Lego.

how do you people pronounce FUXXOR ffs?
the key concept in grasping how to pronounce FUXXOR is that one never pronounces FUXXOR aloud and simply elides it as gracefully as possible within one's interior monologue
― the unappreciated charisma of cows (Aimless), Thursday, 17 September 2020 16:37 (three years ago) link
a beautiful example of the pin/pen merger in Southern English:
there actually two variants of this merger ime -- the upper south where both are pronounced "pin" and the lower south where both are pronounced "pen" ... idk my friends from Tennessee and Texas say "pen/pen" and my dad from West Virginia says "pin/pin" (or sometimes pi-uhn/pi-uhn such that it is two syllables)
― sarahell, Thursday, 17 September 2020 17:12 (three years ago) link
I can definitely hear that two-syllable southern "pin" in my head. It's subtle, but it's there.

But OL, I do not mentally pronounce ilx or ILX as "ilks", but as "eye-ell-eks", based on its stepwise derivation from the acronyms of its many boards using the formula I Love (x), e.g ILM, ILE, ILB, ILF, etc. Once having accepted "eye-ell-eks" as good and proper reflection of its acronymic, rather than phonemic, provenance, it is but a baby step to "eye-ell-eks-or".
