if i were one of these newly unemployed big name writers and i didnt want get big investment money and have a whole organization that needed to be managed produce big numbers and so forth i might try something substackish thats like half podcasts with a staff of less than 5 people, tho i would think hard about whether i wanted to use a 3rd party platform like substack thats ultimately concerned about whats good for them rather than you

but im sure substack is prob just a stopgap for these guys anyway, unless substack has a ton of money they feel like throwing around, but then even that wont last

i mean the anthony lane thing was funny because he was taking uhh genuine delight in the incredibles franchise, the thomas chatterthon williams thing was funny cause of his trying really hard and failing to delight in a hot model

a fwiw imo the twitter main character of the day is a great service, the absurdity and senselessness of it is part of the —meta bouquet— that makes the whole thing work
