agreed, it's like a whole EP made out of the ingredients of "intro." i don't want the death of a loved one to be the only thing that gets him in that reflective mood though, poor dude.

the new meek mill EP, on the other hand, is a slog despite being 4 songs long

'Inconsistency' seems to be the main gripe.

It’s an incoherent criticism imo. The album has a cohesive unique sound and there are no tracks id really skip (tolerance for guests ymmv). People are just being confronted with something new and don’t know what to make of it

Weirdly it’s divided some of his more fervent fans as well, but I think it’s because he’s moved past the sound of “die lit” which despite having self-styled themselves as a vanguard for they don’t really want him to move past

i think another part of it is that the sound whole lotta red pretty distinct from the sound of carti's leaks, which people fell in love with. there isn't anything on here that has the vibe of "pissy pamper," for example.

I'm listening now and it is really great (maybe a xmas release wasn't ideal? lol). But idk maybe it's cuz I listened to the s/t a lot more than Die Lit, and I've never heard any leaks, but I feel like he's using his voice in a bunch of different ways on this, e.g., his super raspy voice on Rockstar Made.

i mean it just seems like a fairly natural continuation of what he was already doing even though there's new stuff there
