It’s been strange they really should have staggered the start more imo

Still feels like preseason games.

However, the suns might have something special brewing. Their defense looks legit so far.

Nuggets in last place in the west...

Spottie, Saturday, 2 January 2021 07:01 (three years ago) link

i take no joy in saying that the warriors are really bad, it sucks seeing steph waste years like this

Clay, Saturday, 2 January 2021 07:03 (three years ago) link

They have a lot to figure out. So many new pieces. Would be nice if oubre (or anyone else) could start making some shots. Nice to get dray back but he looked really gassed in limited minutes and I’m worried that rona may have done a number on him.

Spottie, Saturday, 2 January 2021 07:23 (three years ago) link

Kerr’s unwillingness to simplify is gonna cost the dubs a lot of games.

Spottie, Saturday, 2 January 2021 07:25 (three years ago) link

Had the thought of "oh hey the Suns look good this season and fun to watch, I should go see a few games in person" and then 2 seconds later remembered the pandemic. I guess there's still a possibility later in the season of allowing fans?

i don't think they're gonna be able to have fans safely this season unless there's another delay

ciderpress, Saturday, 2 January 2021 16:06 (three years ago) link

wonder if curry and dray will ask out

i still like the idea of them offering murray for harden

J0rdan S., Saturday, 2 January 2021 17:15 (three years ago) link

if the sixers are really offering simmons its hard to see anyone beating them, tho i guess someone cld step up with an browesque mega package

Campazzo isn’t working out :(

Matt Armstrong, Saturday, 2 January 2021 18:08 (three years ago) link

Gary Harris just gets worse every year, it really sucks.

Matt Armstrong, Saturday, 2 January 2021 18:13 (three years ago) link

Curry should retire and join the PGA while he's still young

oh stop don't be salty

k3vin k., Saturday, 2 January 2021 21:45 (three years ago) link

campazzo being a bust was pretty easy to see given he's a short, old euro. I'm still optimistic about the nuggs' chances this year, the bench seems like a disaster but they can go 7-8 deep with just about any team which gets you most of the way in the playoffs. millsap has actually weirdly looked good.

the harden thing is a nonstarter for me, top-end talent is not their need. ride with the big three and figure out the depth

k3vin k., Saturday, 2 January 2021 21:49 (three years ago) link

their big 3 lol. top end talent is absolutely their need just as it is the need of every team not in LA or milwaukee

J0rdan S., Saturday, 2 January 2021 22:36 (three years ago) link

athletic had a good piece this week about the process of the Warriors (slow) improvement

their three best players are 25 and under. I am fine not making a panic move and letting this core develop. mortgaging the future to add a guy like harden who will be gone in a year or two is not a serious move, sorry. denver is not even on his list! why would you trade for someone like that who doesn't even want to be there

k3vin k., Saturday, 2 January 2021 22:48 (three years ago) link

better chance of winning a title, possibly the best chance they could over the next decade even if they keep their “big 3” intact. if they could actually get him for murray instead of porter i would do it in a heartbeat and put a huge extension in front of harden as early as possible.

J0rdan S., Saturday, 2 January 2021 23:02 (three years ago) link

I think it would make a lot more sense if the player were not specifically james harden, strip club-loving flake. and I simply think you're too pessimistic about that core's future

k3vin k., Saturday, 2 January 2021 23:09 (three years ago) link

whatever team takes harden should do it on the condition that he shaves, yankee pinstripes style, just to make sure his spirit is truly broken

the serious avant-garde universalist right now (forksclovetofu), Saturday, 2 January 2021 23:10 (three years ago) link

it’s not that i’m pessimistic but ppl look at young cores and assume there is great success in their linearly growing future but that’s not always the case. it’s entirely possible the nuggets would have a better shot at a title in the next 2 years with harden than they would in the 5 years after with murray/porter. it’s also possible the opposite is true but the nuggets should be weighing both options (as should many teams in the league)

J0rdan S., Saturday, 2 January 2021 23:17 (three years ago) link

getting a look at john wall and.... the wizards did not win that trade

The nuggets had no training camp and a lot of new players, I’m not really concerned

Matt Armstrong, Saturday, 2 January 2021 23:29 (three years ago) link

every team should be extremely cautious making big swings this year but someone's going to panic.

call all destroyer, Sunday, 3 January 2021 00:24 (three years ago) link

yeah i caught some wall and he looks basically as good as he did at his peak, happy for that guy

Clay, Sunday, 3 January 2021 00:38 (three years ago) link

i watched a game and he played well but one of his legs was def not fully working

panicking is bad but james harden is also extremely good at basketball

lag∞n, Sunday, 3 January 2021 00:54 (three years ago) link

this is a boring take but i'd feel a lot better about that if he had ever like really dominated in the playoffs when it mattered.

call all destroyer, Sunday, 3 January 2021 01:36 (three years ago) link

his playoff performance is def cause for concern, amongst other things, but still

lag∞n, Sunday, 3 January 2021 01:48 (three years ago) link

relatedly its generally interesting that in an era where there are more guys who can handle the ball than ever there are a handful of superstars who succeed via completely dominating the ball AND its a suspect approach for the playoffs

lag∞n, Sunday, 3 January 2021 01:50 (three years ago) link

i assume if any sort of contender trades for harden they will want him to play a little more dynamically, and who knows if hes willing

lag∞n, Sunday, 3 January 2021 01:52 (three years ago) link

yeah pelicans need to play zion like giannis its a huge freaking no brainer

xp yeah it speaks to the widening gap between the season and the 'offs and the dangers with having a single source of offense when good teams are really locked in.

the biggest thing about a harden trade to me is your second post, like what does harden actually want?

call all destroyer, Sunday, 3 January 2021 02:04 (three years ago) link

teams just need to be able to talk to him and ask will you move your body at all when you dont have the ball

lag∞n, Sunday, 3 January 2021 02:06 (three years ago) link

i watching him the other night and hes out of the frame sometimes camped up so far above the 3pt line lol

lag∞n, Sunday, 3 January 2021 02:07 (three years ago) link

it's like nba compartmentalization--possessions where i have the ball, possessions where i do not have the ball

call all destroyer, Sunday, 3 January 2021 02:10 (three years ago) link

ill be over here if you guys need me (to pass the ball to)

lag∞n, Sunday, 3 January 2021 02:10 (three years ago) link

it’s not that wall looks amazing so much as he looks good enough to more or less be a wash with westbrook and houston got a first round pick out of it, and it might be a pretty good pick at this rate

J0rdan S., Sunday, 3 January 2021 02:23 (three years ago) link

yeah hes def playing better than you would expect after having the worst injury and not playing basketball for two years

lag∞n, Sunday, 3 January 2021 02:29 (three years ago) link

28-4-6-3-2 on 56% from the floor tonight idk what else you want outta john wall in 2020

Clay, Sunday, 3 January 2021 02:30 (three years ago) link

he looked awesome tonight but he also hit a bunch of mid range jumpers. he was finishing well at the rim tho and looked pretty athletic

J0rdan S., Sunday, 3 January 2021 02:32 (three years ago) link

oh wait it is 2021 lol

Clay, Sunday, 3 January 2021 02:33 (three years ago) link

at some point i'm going to have to dig in and understand how julius randle is averaging 7 assists a game

call all destroyer, Sunday, 3 January 2021 02:34 (three years ago) link

dont get me wrong its great john wall is plying good i just was looking at his leg which is in a big brace and it doesnt seem to have a lot of get up and go in it plus i watched him land on it and grimace but he is a skilled basketball player who can still do stuff and his leg will probably improve
