Man that looks like any irish town just as you pass the speed limits tbh

cpt otm (darraghmac), Saturday, 6 February 2021 20:59 (three years ago) link

Scranton?

pomenitul, Saturday, 6 February 2021 20:59 (three years ago) link

eesh not much to go on there. Ireland was my initial thought too

cherry blossom, Saturday, 6 February 2021 21:23 (three years ago) link

I was about to say, that looks like Ireland.

Waterloo Subset (Tom D.), Saturday, 6 February 2021 21:27 (three years ago) link

It isn't Scranton.

Bastard Lakes (Camaraderie at Arms Length), Saturday, 6 February 2021 21:29 (three years ago) link

Sorry, dumb joke.

pomenitul, Saturday, 6 February 2021 21:33 (three years ago) link

Sorry, not very good at recognising jokes, dumb or otherwise.

Bastard Lakes (Camaraderie at Arms Length), Saturday, 6 February 2021 21:37 (three years ago) link

Cambridge

calzino, Saturday, 6 February 2021 21:44 (three years ago) link

It is! Are you familiar with that particular road?

Bastard Lakes (Camaraderie at Arms Length), Saturday, 6 February 2021 21:56 (three years ago) link

no sorry I'm a dirty rotten cheat who used search google for image, my first guess was Salisbury!

calzino, Saturday, 6 February 2021 22:06 (three years ago) link

I assumed Calzino had been shown the road out of Cambrige many times.

Waterloo Subset (Tom D.), Saturday, 6 February 2021 22:07 (three years ago) link

some people do say I'm a total punt!

calzino, Saturday, 6 February 2021 22:08 (three years ago) link

well Fen Road is not at all "the road out of Cambridge" - it's a mile-long cul-de-sac behind Cambridge North Station, ending in a steep bank at the side of the A14. It's where the local Irish Travelers live, so interesting that everyone was saying Ireland. Here's the spot - https://goo.gl/maps/v5LrRrrbRurABkDt5

Bastard Lakes (Camaraderie at Arms Length), Saturday, 6 February 2021 22:18 (three years ago) link

it looks very flat to this hillbilly who lives high up enough to often see the weather coming a good twenty mins before it arrives. The bungalow does look quite Irish but they like painting them in bolder colours from my memory of annual tours there thirty odd years ago.

calzino, Saturday, 6 February 2021 22:26 (three years ago) link

Everywhere is flat round here. I'm from Herefordshire where everywhere is the side of a hill.

Bastard Lakes (Camaraderie at Arms Length), Saturday, 6 February 2021 22:31 (three years ago) link

yeah the flat plains of much of the south is something I've never really took to much. Being able to watch birds flying from an above vantage and the way going down a hill sometimes takes you to spots where you are insulated from most noise pollution and the silence is quite a sensory treat, well apart from the odd tractor or the odd reversing alarm on a farmer's forklift.

cherry blossom, Sunday, 7 February 2021 12:50 (three years ago) link

Looks like rich bits of New York I've seen in films.

𝔠𝔞𝔢𝔨 (caek), Sunday, 7 February 2021 18:40 (three years ago) link

Not Philly.

The return of our beloved potatoes (the table is the table), Monday, 8 February 2021 15:20 (three years ago) link

just a shot in the dark: washington dc.

Joses Chrust (map), Monday, 8 February 2021 15:45 (three years ago) link

I have spent a lot of time in DC-Baltimore-Philly and these solid streetfronts don't look to me like those solid streetfronts (in particular the iron on the windows doesn't look right to me)

Guayaquil (eephus!), Monday, 8 February 2021 16:29 (three years ago) link

The tile-work(?) is not something you find in Philly, except for ten years in California, I've been living here or returning here for nearly forty years, never seen anything like those.

idk looks like france to me

plax (ico), Monday, 8 February 2021 17:20 (three years ago) link

i was going to say: reminds me of France

The return of our beloved potatoes (the table is the table), Monday, 8 February 2021 17:27 (three years ago) link

flat roofs, residential street is far too wide for a pre-automobile city. not europe IMO.

𝔠𝔞𝔢𝔨 (caek), Monday, 8 February 2021 17:27 (three years ago) link

hmm i'm zooming in and now i'm not so sure. it's not a residential street for one thing.

buildings suspiciously low rise for europe but ... maybe?

this is a good one.

𝔠𝔞𝔢𝔨 (caek), Monday, 8 February 2021 17:28 (three years ago) link

having spent the last three years taking my son to construction sites, i will say: the construction vehicles do not look north american.

𝔠𝔞𝔢𝔨 (caek), Monday, 8 February 2021 17:30 (three years ago) link

Maybe it's Canada! I really do think the white-collonade face of that long brick building looks New England, and so do the trees, but the construction stuff reads to me as French, that's where I'm getting Canada.

Guayaquil (eephus!), Monday, 8 February 2021 18:12 (three years ago) link

trees bare & no snow though

Joses Chrust (map), Monday, 8 February 2021 18:28 (three years ago) link

The tile work on the stairs at left seem very unAmerican.

Andy the Grasshopper, Monday, 8 February 2021 18:37 (three years ago) link

Andy the Grasshopper, Monday, 8 February 2021 18:41 (three years ago) link

plax (ico), Monday, 8 February 2021 19:22 (three years ago) link
