strong nba2k simulation vibes

this season is an actual sim iirc so it’s appropriate

Dwayne Bacon with a 16 trillion

And Jamal Murray:

Nikola Vucevic in tonight's win over the Warriors:

✅ 30 PTS
✅ 16 REB
✅ 10 AST

He's the first player in @OrlandoMagic history to record at least 30p/15r/10a in a single game. pic.twitter.com/IcuRVZGCHC

That Goldsberry graph is just for the last 15 games. Feels like Utah go on a heater like this every year, it’s just usually later in the season. Hope that they can keep it up and be legit challengers in the top tier.

Lavator Shemmelpennick, Saturday, 20 February 2021 14:12 (three years ago) link

jazz have a 9.2 point differential for the season, theyre good, the thing that separates this years team is theyre good offensively not just defensively, not saying theyre a lock to go all the way there are some other good teams in the west too, but the jazz are legit imo

lag∞n, Saturday, 20 February 2021 14:31 (three years ago) link

also to be playing actual good basketball in this particular season gives them an advantage

lag∞n, Saturday, 20 February 2021 14:32 (three years ago) link

yeah. conley returning to form, bojan being healthy, a full season of clarkson, mitchell taking a mini-leap from already very good to great. it's kind of all clicking at the right time.

class project pat (m bison), Saturday, 20 February 2021 16:01 (three years ago) link

i still think they'll lose to either LA team if those teams are healthy in the playoffs, but they should at least make it interesting.

class project pat (m bison), Saturday, 20 February 2021 16:02 (three years ago) link

the matchups with both LA teams are not great but at this point i think im gonna say "theyve got a shot"

lag∞n, Saturday, 20 February 2021 16:19 (three years ago) link

wld be kind of cool if the jazz (lame team everyone hates) came out of nowhere to win this year (lame year everyone hates)

lag∞n, Saturday, 20 February 2021 16:23 (three years ago) link

conley playing like a borderline all star gives them another legit weapon they haven’t had in previous years. their starting 5 just makes a lot of sense from a fit perspective and they have 3 really solid guys off the bench. beating teams with lebron james and kawhi leonard is super hard so if they don’t make the west finals i don’t think it’s some slouch on them, they are clearly a top 5 team in the league. royce o neal prob gonna have hit some open 3 in the playoffs i’d imagine

J0rdan S., Saturday, 20 February 2021 16:36 (three years ago) link

ppl made such a big deal about the mavs having the best offensive rating off all time last season and this year there are 7 teams putting up a better number lol, somehow none of them is dallas

lag∞n, Saturday, 20 February 2021 18:05 (three years ago) link

o shit i was looking at the adjusted offensive rating, actually only five teams are better this year

lag∞n, Saturday, 20 February 2021 18:07 (three years ago) link

that "greatest offense of all-time" thing was always bullshit, like no shit everyone scores a lot

class project pat (m bison), Saturday, 20 February 2021 18:20 (three years ago) link

yeah it was silly

lag∞n, Saturday, 20 February 2021 19:02 (three years ago) link

According to Embiid, his mid-range game is what unlocks his diverse bag of tricks. Embiid has made 53 percent of his two-point shots not at the rim, per Cleaning the Glass. His previous career-high was 41 percent. As a point of comparison, Kevin Durant shot 53 percent in his best mid-range season, the 2018-19 campaign.

you know what was a weird season 2012-13 only nine players put up 20 or more ppg! https://www.espn.com/nba/stats/player/_/season/2013/seasontype/2/table/offensive/sort/avgPoints/dir/desc

brook lopez was 10th with 19.4, this year theres 40 guys scoring more than that

Bradley Beal extends his streak to 11 straight losses when scoring 40+ points.

It's the longest streak in NBA history.

on 8 attempt a game!

Lonzo Ball is having an underrated season: 14.5 points, 4.2 rebounds, 5.1 assists on 43/39/76 shooting (all career highs) 🔥

He's shooting better from beyond the arc than Donovan Mitchell, Damian Lillard, Kawhi Leonard, Trae Young, Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown and Chris Paul 😮 pic.twitter.com/FsArf8kFZH

(only taking ~4 2s tho lol)

lag∞n, Monday, 1 March 2021 14:22 (three years ago) link

those shooting splits are kind of bad!

call all destroyer, Monday, 1 March 2021 14:59 (three years ago) link

also have to believe a large majority of those are catch and shoot. i do like lonzo tho

J0rdan S., Monday, 1 March 2021 15:09 (three years ago) link

those splits are pretty good! and theyre great for lonzo, he still cant do anything as far as driving to score tho

lag∞n, Monday, 1 March 2021 15:10 (three years ago) link

maybe he turns out to be a 3 and d guy who is also very good at passing, assuming he stays a decent 3 pt shooter which is pretty dicey tbh

lag∞n, Monday, 1 March 2021 15:12 (three years ago) link

still at like 1.2 FTA per game. his counting defensive stats are on the decline but his offensive numbers improve every season.

i was too much listening to your accent (Spottie), Monday, 1 March 2021 15:13 (three years ago) link

you know what i dont understand is the pelicans have the worst defense in the league but they have all these guys who are supposed to be good defenders: lonzo adams bledsoe ingram some of their bench guys seem like they shd be able to play d idgi

lag∞n, Monday, 1 March 2021 15:16 (three years ago) link

zion obvs a very bad defender but also he shouldnt be hes the strongest and most athletic person in the world and moves his feet like a guard

lag∞n, Monday, 1 March 2021 15:18 (three years ago) link

Gotta think Zion will be a plus defender in 2-3 years max, he just has to learn the game and how to conserve his mental energy out there

Lavator Shemmelpennick, Monday, 1 March 2021 16:58 (three years ago) link

maybe he turns out to be a 3 and d guy who is also very good at passing, assuming he stays a decent 3 pt shooter which is pretty dicey tbh

This is a pretty far cry from what you’re positing, but for whatever reason this made me think of what Shaun Livingston became, only if those buttery midrange jumpers were 3s. That’s a pretty cool player but probably a disappointment for Lonzo still at this point (I wonder if LaMelo’s success buys Lonzo another year of trading on potential, by association lol). It’s weird to imagine a player so vaunted for his passing becoming a 3&D guy, hard to think of comps for that. Not a specific player but makes me think of 2014 era Spurs

Lavator Shemmelpennick, Monday, 1 March 2021 17:03 (three years ago) link

yeah the thing about the passing its hard to make good passes in the halfcourt if youre not breaking down the d, maybe in more of a 3 n d wing role which he conveniently has the size for his passing can come into play attacking closeouts, a situation where the d has already been broken down for you

lag∞n, Monday, 1 March 2021 17:17 (three years ago) link

having those ball handling and passing skills could be very valuable in a role playing wing where in a point guard you kinda just need them

lag∞n, Monday, 1 March 2021 17:18 (three years ago) link

Yeah when I think of the 3 and D archetype I picture corner 3s but Lonzo off ball would be better served up high

Lavator Shemmelpennick, Monday, 1 March 2021 19:15 (three years ago) link

inspired my magic’s literal take on this thread

Tyler Herro is averaging 17 PPG, Duncan Robinson 13 PPG, and Bam Adebayo is averaging 19 PPG, 10 RPG, and is shooting 56% from the field!

Lavator Shemmelpennick, Monday, 1 March 2021 20:09 (three years ago) link

i know its been said but a nice aspect of magics twitter is that he sited not being able to tweet what he wants as a reason for quitting the lakers

lag∞n, Monday, 1 March 2021 20:12 (three years ago) link

re: lonzo, stan van said that he wants him to be a point guard in transition and a wing in the half court, and the brandon ingram/zion tandem is more than enough to create offense without a traditional point.

little johnny juul (voodoo chili), Monday, 1 March 2021 20:16 (three years ago) link

John Wall tonight:

14 PTS
0 REB
0 AST
0 STL
0 BLK
0 3PM
4-16 FG

He is the first player with a 10/0/0/0/0/0 statline on 25% shooting or worse since JR Smith in 2012. Wall is the first starter to do so since 1985. pic.twitter.com/J8N7O15Is2
