Very active on the British jazz scene until the 70s when he started working with Stevie Wonder on his classic run. Also worked with Minnie Riperton and Gil Scott-Heron, which is how I came to know his work as a producer.

His one album released under own name —Radiance from 1981— is a very I Am the Center style instrumental album and essentially a demonstration for the TONTO:

Oh damn. For sure deserves a major piece of credit for what's easily the greatest four-album run in pop history.

RIP Malcolm. First Tonto album is good, apart from the kind of raga track, some great sounds on there.

Really one of the unsung heroes...Tonto’s production’s were so warm and comfortable...All those Isley Brothers productions were fantastic not to mention Stevie and Gil...Rest In Prophets, Moogs, Arps etc
