Oh man, I had forgotten all about "Angel Face." It's on an RCA Records "Blitz" sampler along with Bow Wow Wow, Polyrock, and Sparks that I loved back in 1981. Now that I have seen that video I cannot unsee it.

I've always heard Metal Boys featuring China as being somewhat glam-inspired, via Pop Art-VU-Roxy-Reed-Bowie-early 70s-solo-Eno, Sadistic Mika Band etc---when ilxor Dan Selzer co-produced this comp for Acute in /04, I wrote about it in the Voice:
"The rain won't let my tits grow. Napalm you're so
good in bed. How many flies ate you today? Let's get hungry tonight." That's
China whinin', like a siren, on "Suspenders in the Dark." She sings for Metal
Boys (recombinant shards of Parisian punk pioneers Metal Urbain) on 1980's Tokio
Airport. Now unearthed, and still flying together/apart on every track, Metal
Boys' sexelectric dragon's teeth gnaw and gnash at China's objet
d'amour-hate, "Tokio Airport." "Technofasceest," she hisses, and drives desperate, new
unforgivable-synth stinky toys through "the anti-climax of X-mas Day," leaving
them stuck inside a harmonically ravenous mobile tagged "Carbone 14." Later, in
penance and/or celebration, China dances barefoot for a "Paranoia Carnival," on
tone-nails of gilded Pong. (That's un certain game, kiddies. I hear it's coming
b-a-a-ack.)

I'm guessing that you probably know the first couple of XTC records, but it's worth mentioning.

Also, the wonderful Nits from the Netherlands, almost totally ignored outside of the Benelux, still going, still fantastic but in the late 70s/early 80s they had a three-album dalliance with New Wave/Power Pop and a touch of glam maybe.

Which albums from The Nits are best from that time? Had a listen to Omsk a while back but it has yet to grow on me.

Try Tent, New Flat and Work, Omsk is decent but it's kinda different to the earlier material.

Adding to my own thread haha but Peter Ivers is great - particularly his album Terminal Love. Not exactly new wave but some underrated, yet artsy glam rock.

Thank you for the suggestions, Maren. Really interested in hearing more from the Nits, an intriguing group from what I've heard.

I could blab on about them forever, it's a real shame they're so slept on.

The music did take a few years to click with me, but now I'm a huge admirer.
