his contributions to the '80s king crimson continued that bands tradition of lyrics that make you cringe, even if the music was again typically engaging -- i should listen to his solo albums more than i do (it's been ten years) but i've forgotten so am prematurely frightened by the prospect of lyrics

He's a lot better than Reeves Gabrels.

Desire Caught by the Tail is definitely my favorite of his solo records. never liked the Bears stuff; Mr. MusicHead had some great beatle-esque parts but I didn't pay too much attention to the albums that followed, despite the fact that allmusic claims inner revolution is groundbreakingingly brilliant (don't remember it at all). Fave KC is Discipline/Beat.

fun fact: KC Discipline tour was my first rock show.

He really makes KC's Discipline [sound a heck of a lot like Remain in Light. And I mean that in the nicest way.
