Lol

Turkey have gone

Spinazzola's had a great game

Full Kit Starmer (Noodle Vague), Friday, 11 June 2021 20:24 (two years ago) link

Aye, goal has shaken them. Oh, number 2 came as I was about to post "a second is inevitable"

Cyrus immobile the scorer, quelled surprise

《Myst1kOblivi0n》 (jim in vancouver), Friday, 11 June 2021 20:25 (two years ago) link

Italy have been really fuckin good, thought turkey handled them well enough in first half but jesus they work you

Eschew things thirty two times before swallowing them (darraghmac), Friday, 11 June 2021 20:25 (two years ago) link

Turkey's defence looked terrible on this.

Van Horn Street, Friday, 11 June 2021 20:26 (two years ago) link

Turkey have been fine, the keeper looks good, they're just outclassed here. they're better than Wales

Jonathan Hellion Mumble, Friday, 11 June 2021 20:27 (two years ago) link

Italy playing at a decidedly unitalian tempo is cool to see

imago, Friday, 11 June 2021 20:27 (two years ago) link

Anyone heard the bang?

Van Horn Street, Friday, 11 June 2021 20:28 (two years ago) link

If Berardi had managed anything useful with his time and possession all night this wouldve been long wrapped up

Eschew things thirty two times before swallowing them (darraghmac), Friday, 11 June 2021 20:31 (two years ago) link

I mean yes the first goal but still

berardi substituted for a man whose surname contains all of his own within it, in the right order

imago, Friday, 11 June 2021 20:46 (two years ago) link

Every chance a red yet

Eschew things thirty two times before swallowing them (darraghmac), Friday, 11 June 2021 20:48 (two years ago) link

Italy have been pressing, lovely passing, no false moves, none of the totally off vibes in opening games of old. Kinda miss it but maybe it's me that needs to grow up.

xyzzzz__, Friday, 11 June 2021 20:48 (two years ago) link

Spinazzola MOTM for me

Jonathan Hellion Mumble, Friday, 11 June 2021 20:57 (two years ago) link

Actually, forget I said that if these BBC cunts are gunna agree with me

Jonathan Hellion Mumble, Friday, 11 June 2021 20:59 (two years ago) link

Italy were good throughout. Turkish keeper had the worst distribution of any goalie I have ever seen, almost as if he grew up in the handling backpasses era. shockingly poor.

oscar bravo, Friday, 11 June 2021 21:02 (two years ago) link

Great shot stopping I thought

Jonathan Hellion Mumble, Friday, 11 June 2021 21:03 (two years ago) link

france, germany, and belgium are looking good.

out of those, i'd go for the belgians. nothing against the other two, though.

hoping netherlands, switzerland, and/or spain can have a good run out of pure luck/desire

Punster McPunisher, Friday, 11 June 2021 21:05 (two years ago) link

Beyond rooting for France, I’d love to see a country to do a Greece 2004, pure out of nowhere surprise.

Van Horn Street, Friday, 11 June 2021 21:10 (two years ago) link

I'll root for Italy, S****n, Wales and I GUESS this nice enough Scotland squad all for family/historic reasons. My Mother will be disappointed but not surprised that I can't cheer for England, but if the rascists hate them enough then maybe I shall?

Jonathan Hellion Mumble, Friday, 11 June 2021 21:11 (two years ago) link

xp
watched the 'King Otto' documentary about Greece and Rehhagel this week. Good stuff.

oscar bravo, Friday, 11 June 2021 21:13 (two years ago) link

imdb has made it nearly impossible for me to enjoy any documentary. are there any other good sports documentaries?

Punster McPunisher, Friday, 11 June 2021 21:14 (two years ago) link

Always support Italy because they annoy clueless wankers who pretend to like football but this team seem a bit more likeable. Also Germany.

The newish Maradona one is great. Will show you a lot about Italian football culture and history too, even if he is argentine

a hoy hoy, Friday, 11 June 2021 21:38 (two years ago) link

best thing about the axis powers of football is that yer typical England fan despises them and they have always been astronomically superior and consistently more successful than England for at least the last 5 decades.

calzino, Friday, 11 June 2021 21:41 (two years ago) link

Indeed.

Are Animated Dads Getting Hotter? (Tom D.), Friday, 11 June 2021 21:47 (two years ago) link

but come this is a football thread!

Eschew things thirty two times before swallowing them (darraghmac), Friday, 11 June 2021 21:59 (two years ago) link

okay, sure, italy is fine, but i draw the line at juventus, which is four from the national football team plus ronaldo, which is just -- no!

Punster McPunisher, Friday, 11 June 2021 23:03 (two years ago) link

Bad kit bad tournament, is how things usually roll.

― Are Animated Dads Getting Hotter? (Tom D.),

Yes! Saw it earlier this week and it is fantastic. The opening 10 minutes, what a rollercoaster sequence!

willem, Saturday, 12 June 2021 08:05 (two years ago) link

I feel like bono's team were hampered by the abseiling and oversized balls. Tactically the edge and Martin garrix should of stopped kicking a drum machine around and got stuck in, poor display

Swanswans, Saturday, 12 June 2021 08:44 (two years ago) link

the oversized pitch banners and hoardings screaming Euro 2020 were a bit visually lol, all it needed was a spray can, fellas, did someone in the office go...'2021!! well I've printed all the napkins now, ffs..don't worry, boss, no-one will notice'....

Swanswans, Saturday, 12 June 2021 08:51 (two years ago) link

NV made the point that they’d have been rightly lambasted for the waste involved in disposing of it all so I guess it’s the right thing to do. Feels weirdly Panglossian though. “If I just close my eyes and wish hard enough it’s like COVID never happened!”

Tracer Hand, Saturday, 12 June 2021 08:56 (two years ago) link

sorry, if I missed a reference to the branding upthread, sure, I get the waste was a factor though you'd still think there would have been some amendments/rethinking.
It had a suitable pandemic era vibes, I guess....time losing meaning, the 'fuck that will do, the entire pr team are working from home and AWOL...etc..

Swanswans, Saturday, 12 June 2021 09:23 (two years ago) link

You didn’t miss anything, NV said that elsewhere!

But yeah agree totally.

Tracer Hand, Saturday, 12 June 2021 10:01 (two years ago) link

ha, ok, yeah, it was only missing the euro officials wearing top half tuxedos and bottom half board shorts..can't wait till they present the winners medals by sticking them to players faces to check if their vaccine magnetism has kicked in

Scampo di tutti i Scampi (ShariVari), Saturday, 12 June 2021 12:46 (two years ago) link

Fuck me, the BBC has dredged up Neil Kinnock to blabber away before the match kicks off. I hate how football is covered these days. Plus I dislike them having a Welsh presenter and all Welsh pundits, seems patronising as hell, like little old Wales can't take the criticism. I hope they don't do the same for Scotland, at least they should have Limmy or somebody on instead of Ruth Davidson or whoever.

Are Animated Dads Getting Hotter? (Tom D.), Saturday, 12 June 2021 12:50 (two years ago) link

anybody fancy a sweep on the minute when the commentator first uses the word "adventure"?

Gabbie Logan eligible via a Welsh parent

hiroyoshi tins in (Sgt. Biscuits), Saturday, 12 June 2021 12:57 (two years ago) link

She definitely considers herself Welsh. Who are Scotland going to get, Hazel Irvine?

Are Animated Dads Getting Hotter? (Tom D.), Saturday, 12 June 2021 12:59 (two years ago) link

That's probably where Limmy comes in I guess

That's one of the worst penalties I've ever seen a pro footballer take.

Saxophone Of Futility (Michael B), Friday, 17 November 2023 20:59 (five months ago) link

the English language broadcaster (not on this feed) was incredulous. then one of his teammates scored on a daisycutter minutes later so nobody cared but lord I don't think he'll ever be given a PK again after his history with them
