Stylistics: two original members. The lead singer left in 2000, and tours as Russell Thompkins Jr. & The New Stylistics, possibly with a 1980-85 Stylistic in his group.

Delfonics: since 1975 the founding brothers William Hart and Wilbert Hart have led separate line-ups. Other third members of the previous trio are now deceased, but would shift around between the two operating Delfonics.

Zapp: Roger and Larry Troutman died in a murder-suicide in 1999, current band may include two non-deceased Troutmen and a Troutnephew.

Mary Jane Girls: may or may not include the one Girl who was in both the studio and touring versions. May or may not include the sisters who sang backing on the records, or the other touring members. Is probably not a "girl group composed of one Asian American, one African American, one Latina, and one white singer," for which Mary J. Blige licensed the name in 2001 but never got around to svengali-ing.

Chi-Lites: one original member.

Heatwave: all three founders are dead.

Dramatics: formed 1964, all members replaced by 1971. From 1975 to 1979, there were two competing lineups, split from the 1971 lineup. Four out of five of this hitmaking-era lineup/s are dead. From 2012 to 2018, there were again two active versions, one of which contained the living 1971-ish member, and the other was led by a member who had joined the "original" band in 1975, when two of the 1971-ish members formed the splitter group. This guy left in 1981, rejoined in 1985, bought out the name in 2018, and leads the current group, including his solo material in their sets.

With the Stylistics, I'm the same as brimstead: without Russell Thompkins, nothing.

wait, there were still three original Dramatics in the band in the '70s: one of them split and formed the second Dramatics, and both Dramatices changed their name at various points before settling the trademark.
