cade is prob not the natural scorer that suggs is but we have seen a bunch of guys like him progressively work their way to being great scorers your kawhi tatum paul georges and so forth, also suggs is not really the shooter that you would like him to be at least at this point

yeah i think paul george is a good comparison for cade, i'm not sure if he ever gets into the best player in the NBA conversation but the path for him to be in that next tier w/ some first team all NBAs and top 5 MVP finishes is pretty clear

i do think people can get a little too carried away with the positional stuff, my feeling is you want bucket getters first and foremost, guys who can score against playoff defenses, now it might be nice to have a super switchable big wing but its not like you just have your choice of many guys who can really score the ball

i guess if they feel like the sixers are gonna trade him they want to choose where he goes but it’s not like they have much leverage

i like how in that article - which was obviously sourced from the ben simmons camp and/or the sixers - it says that "his trade value in the marketplace is still significant, sources said"

theres that but also what if this is cutting their losses? if the problems are shooting/psychological and he continues to not progress and/or hilly continues using his reputation as a public toilet, that could tank his value even more.

they need to open their season on the road and he needs to hit five 3s in that season-opening game or something, in order for philly to be an environment where it is psychologically possible for him to build his value back up

he needs to give them enough of a spark that they can muster the hope to at least root for him

yeah and w/ morey as GM they will have a very keen understanding of value

i think the issue is that you a. risk the rebuilding of value not happening and then have to make an in-season trade at the same value which will be even more difficult than trading him in the offseason b. he plays better and they get tricked into thinking he's improved and then we hit the playoffs and the fit doesn't work and they're back in the same spot a year from now w/ another wasted year of embiid

i don't get the shade in that quote involving kidd and luka? carlisle thanked kidd in his iphone resignation note it seems like he genuinely respects him

I am tired of hearing that the Sixers are selling low on Simmons, which assumes that he gets his shit together shoots >50% on FTs and maybe learns to shoot from outside 10ft. Let someone else figure this headcase out.

I am also willing to bet that keeping Simmons means losing Embiid.

my feeling is the sixers probably can find an offer that will allow them to let simmons go to start a new life, not a great offer but one that is like ok were probably not going to do better

they were a top 5 seed this year, the nuggets will be w/o murray for most of the season, clippers may not have kawhi for most of the season, phoenix and utah were both extremely healthy this season. i don't think the mavs will get worse, not sure how much better they'll get but they're gonna bring back basically their entire team or use their cap space to replace hardaway. they also have one of the 5 best players in the NBA. it wouldn't take much for them to be top 4 in the west come january or w/e
