he seems like the kinda guy that wants to stay in one place for a long time? projecting a bit but theyve also already shown they can build a competent team around him, things looking up in atlanta.

KOC sounded like he likes all the spurs moves on the latest simmons pod. he also likes the derozan move tho so...

here is the spurs offseson so far:
*demar trade was pretty darn good for SA (picks and if they keep thad, he'll be a nice complement to their team)
*the primo pick is a mess until proven otherwise
*signing zach collins for 3 years just seems like such a huge unforced error
*not the hugest fan of mcbuckets but i get it. its just a lot to pay a backup, but he'll have solid trade value.
*re-signing bryn...spurs have six guards who can't play SF under contract, though i suppose primo and tre jones can go to austin full time.
*getting chandler hutchison and a 2RP for nothing, seems fine.
*they have 17 guys under contract rn, someone's getting traded or cut

I think the Spurs moves are fine, Primo was a bold, gutsy pick from a franchise that has earned the right to do that sometimes. They have a lot of great young talent, more than people are admitting most of the time imo

They’re also a very experienced front office who probably had a good idea that primo wasn’t lasting to 20.

Cam Johnson made draft reaches look good

in that part of the draft reaches are pretty excusable. giannis was a dice roll too! chances are better than not that even a “safe” or “good” pick in the mid to late lottery is not gonna be all that great

yeah totally. nobody drafted after primo is anywhere close to a sure thing

Danny Green back to Sixers at 2 years/$20M. Seems like too much. He is not a starter at this point and he also looked washed during stretches.

At least the Sixers have an option in Yr 2.

xxpost re: primo, it wasnt that anyone guy was preferable (altho my preference on swing-for-the-fences picks are big wings bc guards are not as impactful on winning unless they are transcendently good). i just felt that knicks offering 19+21 gives you better odds to find a big player.

weird how the 3s are better than the 2s...and 16-20 has more all-stars than 11-15, 26-30 has more franchise players than the 10 picks before. maybe just random effects of relatively small sample size tho

smart ppl like hollinger etc say that danny green is still a value player by their systems but i don’t like that contract i just don’t think you can put have him on the floor in high level playoff games he looks washed to me

i wonder if it's just random or there's something about the pick that makes it more prone to giving you a bust. like something about the groupthink at the top of the draft that coalesces around a certain kind of player

i think its probably just random, bagley over doncic is the only recent one that was an obvious punt
