oladipo to the heat for one year on the minimum. apparently his ppl think he could be back by jan/february, the heat seem to think it will be more like march. in any event the primary motivation of the deal appears to be so that the heat keep his bird rights & can exceed the cap to re-sign him next season if they want to

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 4 August 2021 23:32 (two years ago) link

pretty great for the hawks that trae didn’t ask for a player option on his extension

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 4 August 2021 23:34 (two years ago) link

Watching Josh primo in summer league and he looks great but also a lot like the other excellent young guards they already have

Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 5 August 2021 00:03 (two years ago) link

spurs twitter is fighting over the notion that the spurs are planning to trade for ben simmons

class project pat (m bison), Thursday, 5 August 2021 00:27 (two years ago) link

(one of those guards would be on the move to get simmons obv)

he seems like the kinda guy that wants to stay in one place for a long time? projecting a bit but theyve also already shown they can build a competent team around him, things looking up in atlanta.

pure rim rest (Spottie), Thursday, 5 August 2021 00:30 (two years ago) link

KOC sounded like he likes all the spurs moves on the latest simmons pod. he also likes the derozan move tho so...

pure rim rest (Spottie), Thursday, 5 August 2021 00:31 (two years ago) link

lol yeah. i mean it does make the bulls better in terms of shot creation/playmaking, and they have enough 3-point shooting around him to make that work. but its A LOT of money. that d is gonna be badddd

class project pat (m bison), Thursday, 5 August 2021 00:38 (two years ago) link

hopefully pat williams turns into draymond this season

pure rim rest (Spottie), Thursday, 5 August 2021 00:40 (two years ago) link

every article says caruso will play the d. From the bench i guess?

here is the spurs offseson so far:
*demar trade was pretty darn good for SA (picks and if they keep thad, he'll be a nice complement to their team)
*the primo pick is a mess until proven otherwise
*signing zach collins for 3 years just seems like such a huge unforced error
*not the hugest fan of mcbuckets but i get it. its just a lot to pay a backup, but he'll have solid trade value.
*re-signing bryn...spurs have six guards who can't play SF under contract, though i suppose primo and tre jones can go to austin full time.
*getting chandler hutchison and a 2RP for nothing, seems fine.
*they have 17 guys under contract rn, someone's getting traded or cut

class project pat (m bison), Thursday, 5 August 2021 00:48 (two years ago) link

I think the Spurs moves are fine, Primo was a bold, gutsy pick from a franchise that has earned the right to do that sometimes. They have a lot of great young talent, more than people are admitting most of the time imo

Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 5 August 2021 01:31 (two years ago) link

They’re also a very experienced front office who probably had a good idea that primo wasn’t lasting to 20.

Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 5 August 2021 01:32 (two years ago) link

Cam Johnson made draft reaches look good

symsymsym, Thursday, 5 August 2021 01:34 (two years ago) link

in that part of the draft reaches are pretty excusable. giannis was a dice roll too! chances are better than not that even a “safe” or “good” pick in the mid to late lottery is not gonna be all that great

J0rdan S., Thursday, 5 August 2021 03:38 (two years ago) link

yeah totally. nobody drafted after primo is anywhere close to a sure thing

symsymsym, Thursday, 5 August 2021 04:27 (two years ago) link

Danny Green back to Sixers at 2 years/$20M. Seems like too much. He is not a starter at this point and he also looked washed during stretches.

Carlos Santana & Mahavishnu Rob Thomas (PBKR), Thursday, 5 August 2021 11:20 (two years ago) link

At least the Sixers have an option in Yr 2.

Carlos Santana & Mahavishnu Rob Thomas (PBKR), Thursday, 5 August 2021 11:52 (two years ago) link

xxpost re: primo, it wasnt that anyone guy was preferable (altho my preference on swing-for-the-fences picks are big wings bc guards are not as impactful on winning unless they are transcendently good). i just felt that knicks offering 19+21 gives you better odds to find a big player.

class project pat (m bison), Thursday, 5 August 2021 12:06 (two years ago) link

weird how the 3s are better than the 2s...and 16-20 has more all-stars than 11-15, 26-30 has more franchise players than the 10 picks before. maybe just random effects of relatively small sample size tho

symsymsym, Thursday, 5 August 2021 15:06 (two years ago) link

smart ppl like hollinger etc say that danny green is still a value player by their systems but i don’t like that contract i just don’t think you can put have him on the floor in high level playoff games he looks washed to me

J0rdan S., Thursday, 5 August 2021 15:20 (two years ago) link

Source: Ben Simmons has cut off communication with basically everyone in the Sixers organization. Everything is going thru his agent, Rich Paul. Ben is open to going to the GSWs though he doesn’t have much leverage in the situation.

― call all destroyer, Friday, July 30, 2021 7:44 PM (six days ago) bookmarkflaglink

i have received your missive and am overjoyed at the news

lag∞n, Thursday, 5 August 2021 15:49 (two years ago) link

less than 30m per year for randle seems pretty fair

pure rim rest (Spottie), Thursday, 5 August 2021 15:53 (two years ago) link

theres been a lot of bad 2nd overall picks huh

ciderpress, Thursday, 5 August 2021 16:24 (two years ago) link

i wonder if it's just random or there's something about the pick that makes it more prone to giving you a bust. like something about the groupthink at the top of the draft that coalesces around a certain kind of player

J0rdan S., Thursday, 5 August 2021 16:28 (two years ago) link

i think its probably just random, bagley over doncic is the only recent one that was an obvious punt

ciderpress, Thursday, 5 August 2021 16:38 (two years ago) link

ESPN Sources: Masai Ujiri – architect of the 2019 champions-- has agreed to a significant new deal to become Vice Chairman!President of the Toronto Raptors. Ujiri continues as both Raptors top basketball/business executive and a global philanthropist through his Giants of Africa.

I don’t think I want any part of Simmons on the Warriors, let someone else take on that project

brimstead, Thursday, 5 August 2021 19:09 (two years ago) link

yeah no thx.

pure rim rest (Spottie), Thursday, 5 August 2021 19:10 (two years ago) link

simmons on the dubs could be great depending on his head

lag∞n, Thursday, 5 August 2021 19:14 (two years ago) link

literally tall draymond

lag∞n, Thursday, 5 August 2021 19:14 (two years ago) link

lag∞n, Thursday, 5 August 2021 19:15 (two years ago) link

lag∞n, Thursday, 5 August 2021 19:16 (two years ago) link

lag∞n, Thursday, 5 August 2021 19:17 (two years ago) link

The Charlotte Hornets have emerged with strong interest in a potential offer sheet for Chicago restricted free agent Lauri Markkanen, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. RFAs can begin signing sheets Friday.

crying @ “strong interest” in a “potential” “offer sheet”

would be a good signing for the hornets tho i’m a strong believer in the lauri fresh start renaissance

they already have him tho

― J0rdan S., Thursday, August 5, 2021 12:28 PM (four hours ago) bookmarkflaglink

could be that teams are still swinging for the fences at 2 but the best player is already off the board

lag∞n, Thursday, 5 August 2021 20:56 (two years ago) link

Shook Ones, Pick 2

Carlos Santana & Mahavishnu Rob Thomas (PBKR), Thursday, 5 August 2021 22:44 (two years ago) link

lol

lag∞n, Thursday, 5 August 2021 22:57 (two years ago) link

Brandon Ingram might be the correct pick if things keep going the way they are

Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 5 August 2021 23:12 (two years ago) link

true or brown

lag∞n, Friday, 6 August 2021 01:17 (two years ago) link

brown is interesting in that hes not the type you take at one but hes is at three
